The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers tease that Mateo (Francisco San Martin) will continue to throw himself at Quinn (Rena Sofer). His goal is to realize a major payday from Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) and maybe Mrs. Forrester as well.
Just weeks after restoring her marriage, Quinn went ballistic. She lambasted her husband because he didn’t tell her about Kwyatt. Yes, Eric (John McCook) was wrong to withhold that information from his wife. But considering her ill-advised dalliance with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Quinn should have known better to lash out as she did. But good judgment, or self-control isn’t part of her repertoire.
Acting like an animal, as Katie (Heather Tom) accurately described Quinn’s behavior, won’t endear her to Eric. Instead, this incident may introduce disenchantment.
Mateo is hardly someone Eric can trust, though he doesn’t know that yet. The head of the Forrester clan would be livid if knew that the young man he recently promoted to head his estate’s grounds has also agreed to conspire with Sheila.
Soapy plots being what they are, it just so happened that Mateo’s mother has heavy medical costs. Posting an online request for money assistance and setting up a payment plan with his mom’s billing office would have been two ways to avoid Sheila’s flimsy deal.
Sheila squeezed as much out of Charlie (Dick Christie) as she could, for now. James (Ian Buchanan) played along with her concussion ruse, but that ploy resulted in her eventually being kicked out of the mansion. However, Mateo’s reveal of his family woes allowed Sheila to attach strings to a third puppet.
B&B viewers took note when Sheila said Mateo would realize $200,000 after she became Mrs. Eric Forrester again. That means Mateo will receive nothing for his efforts until Quinn and Eric divorce and Sheric Part II is legally in place.
No explanation was offered regarding how Brown’s character somehow got her hands on the wad of cash Mateo accepted as his initial bribe. The suspension of disbelief theory was strongly proffered in that scene.
Overhearing the Forrester’s fight about Wyatt (Darin Brooks) and Katie moved this storyline along. Mateo’s subsequent bold (wink) move to offer solace to Quinn after Eric left the house was telling.
Mateo’s misguided motivations and already compromised position seems likely to produce bad results for him and others. Unlike the audience and various B&B characters, he’s naive to Sheila’s true backstory.
Maybe Mateo’s opportunity to realize the payoff isn’t that ridiculous? Of course Sheila would need to appropriate Eric’s funds to settle up. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
