The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers documented all things Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) since the character unexpectedly returned to Los Angeles in June. Her four-plus month arc appeared to end recently, but yet Eric (John McCook) and Quinn (Rena Sofer) have strangely kept the infamous portrait Sheila commissioned of herself in their home, albeit in the closet. What does that imply about the future of this infamous villain?
The seemingly impossible resurrection Sheila followed an 11-year stretch where she didn’t exist. As B&B fans know, Brown last played Sheila in 2006. Michelle Stafford later briefly assumed the role on Y&R in 2007. Lauren (Tracey Bregman) eventually shot and killed a woman who had radical plastic surgery performed so that she would look like Phyllis (also played by Stafford at that time).
Sheila’s apparent last act was widely panned at the time, as Brown made the role iconic. While Stafford handled that secondary role well, the storyline itself was cheesy soap at best. However, by having that medically induced doppelganger appear and then die Y&R, along with B&B, knowingly, or unknowingly enabled the plausibility that Sheila could be revisited.
Sheila was immediately asked about her impossible existence in June. She replied by stating rumors about her identity were crazy and that she’d been incarcerated. But no further details were later provided, which obviously left her backstory hazy. That dialogue seemed intended as a wink to the audiences of both shows and a way to explain the unexplainable.
Sheila’s goal was to become Mrs. Eric Forrester again. Through some stops and starts it seemed possible, however incredibly, that could actually happen. However, Quinn proved to be more than Sheila’s match.
Physical violence and mental dexterity was equally employed by Quinn as she successfully outmaneuvered Sheila on two different occasions. In the ultimate take-down, Sofer’s character worked with Eric who cruelly set up Sheila to believe that she was about to remarry him.
Yet all B&B and Y&R devotees knew that Eric’s approach was needed in order to get through to Sheila. It worked and she finally realized the truth. Whether she’s accepted it remains to be seen, which is why the continued presence of her oil-based portrait is intriguing.
There were brief moments where it appeared as though Eric was suckered by his one-time wife, but anti-Sheila zealots were relieved to learn that she hadn’t taken control of his heart. So how could B&B effectively revisit the Eric-obsession storyline again? Hopefully, the writing staff doesn’t plan to have Sheila wage war against the Forrester family once again.
Brown’s contract is known to run through the spring of 2018. So it’s possible that Sheila will cross over to the parent show (Y&R), as originally happened in reverse in the early 1990’s and various times back-and-forth thereafter.
But just when Quinn and Eric were hoping their problems were over B&B has inserted Sheila right back in their faces! On this week’s new B&B episodes, November 27 – December 1, the happy couple will be shocked to learn Sheila is working at Il Giardino – her ostensibly sincere apology to Eric for her past behavior should have the patriarch worried….
