Sanjay Desai was a traitor. He was a human that openly chose to work with the strigoi rather than resist or even flee the city so now he’s paying the price. He was put in charge of the maternity clinics and he’s been warned that he’s taking too long to deliver the babies though Sanjay had tried to get the mothers to full term and so he didn’t see what was wrong with waiting around for the full nine months. But Eichhorst kept finding a problem with Sanjay’s work and had no problem with showing his displeasure.
He felt that Sanjay didn’t have a comprehensible plan for the mothers after the babies were born and both he and the Master didn’t see why they had to wait so long for results when they could find someone else that could do the job. However, Sanjay was forced to fight for his position. The human knew that he was expendable and he didn’t want to lose the privileged life he had with his wife because of the maternity clinics. So Sanjay promised Eichhorst that he would get results and that he would remain on top of everything, but he knew the price if he failed.
Eichhorst had threatened Sanjay’s wife Selah and so Sanjay was willing to do anything to protect her. Though what he was doing with the clinics went above and beyond. He later called Dutch into his office and he asked her to talk one of the mothers into willing giving up her baby. Sanjay said that they both knew the truth of the matter – that the mothers were kept around to birth even more B positive babies – so he wanted Dutch to lie and tell the expectant mother that her baby was going to a good place.
Sanjay had also warned Dutch that if she didn’t assist that she could be moved to a place worse than the clinic and that anything could happen to the women left behind if Dutch wasn’t around. But Dutch had been scared. She hadn’t wanted to help Sanjay or for that matter assist in whatever the strigoi were doing yet she had to sell her soul if she wanted to live. So Dutch was trying to figure a way out her predicament when Eph found himself in a spot of trouble. The safe house he was in had gotten hit and most of the resistance were taken out by a strigoi team.
Yet, Eph was left with Alex. Alex was the resourceful women that had been behind the resistance team he first met however she had been inconsolable after they had gotten hit because her brother had gotten bitten by the strigoi and had needed to be killed before he turned. So Alex had every reason to lose it. She had just lost the one remaining member of her family that she had left and now she just had Eph. Eph tried to give Alex some space to grieve and so he hadn’t interrupted her when she simply collapsed once they were safe.
Knowing they were safe had allowed Alex to lower her shields. However, she found she eventually found some whisky lying around and that too helped her feel better. So she had tried to offer Eph some as well and he had turned her down. He said that he knew alcohol wasn’t going to help because he’s been where she is and know how much she blames herself for what happened. So he told her the truth about Zach. Zach had set off the nuke that destroyed New York not because he wanted to hurt anyone, but because he was angry with his father and Eph hadn’t been able to reach him.
Eph explained how the Master had taken both his son and ex-wife and had turned Kelly as a way to manipulate the pair. But Eph blamed himself for what happened afterwards because he had killed Kelly and Zach had been forced to witness it. So Eph had told Alex that she could leave if she wants seeing as she now knew the truth about everything and he had been surprised when Alex said she was staying. She still wanted to destroy the strigoi because that’s what her late brother had wanted and so she asked Eph what they were going to do next. And he told her about his suspicions.
Eph had noticed that the strigoi were now clearing out buildings rather than just going after a couple of people and so he thinks they’re planning something. Though getting close enough to the wreckage they left behind had given them some clue. Eph and Alex had found a flier about the Partnership and farming. So it had looked like the Master was planning on upping the food supply yet neither Eph nor Alex knew what for. Especially as humans were the ones eating food while the strigoi were the ones draining them so the farms were merely the latest thing that didn’t make sense.
Dutch on her end hadn’t a clue about what would happen to the babies once they were born, but she did her best all the same to reassure the mothers in labor because the staff were acting like they didn’t care. The doctors wouldn’t check in or talk to the mothers and the nurses chose to actively ignore any of the women’s concerns. So, the mothers were quickly realizing that no one cared about them or what happened to them afterwards because the babies were the only one that were actually important.
But Dutch did her best to keep a young woman named Sophie calm as she had her C-section and she kept her entire focus on Sophie. So Dutch had been there when Sophie’s daughter Olive was born and she honestly found it to be a beautiful moment however everything changed when Dutch realized that the doctors weren’t even going to show Sophie her baby and so Dutch tried to find out where the baby was being taken. She took Sanjay prisoner and had found a way out of the OR so she followed the child.
Dutch followed the baby’s cries until she wounded up in the back room and realized that the strigoi were draining women and babies of their blood using machines… so that was going to happen to baby Olive as well.
And as the strigoi were draining them of all their blood, Gus and Creem were making war on rival gun runners because humans can’t stop killing each other even as the human race was dying off!
THE END!
