The show begins with Blake’s paring of Andrea Thomas and Lauren Duski. Blake put them together because they are his two leading country artist. Andrea started sing at the age of 8 on her grandfather’s television show. She has been making a living as a back-up singer for Carrie Underwood. She will perform Cry by Faith Hill. She wants to present a mix of pop and country. Lauren will sing When You Say Nothing At All by Alison Krause. She picked this song because it really gives her the opportunity to showcase all aspects of her voice.

Alicia loved how authentic Lauren sounded as she sang. Gwen would pick Andrea and can’t believe that she isn’t already on the radio. Adam loved them both but would have to go with Lauren. Blake decides Lauren wins the knockout and will go on to the live performance.

Next up is Team Alicia with Jack Cassidy versus Vanessa Ferguson. She thinks they are both incredible artists and can wait to see their performances. Jack comes from a very musical family. He will perform Unsteady by X Ambassadors. He feels this song represents feels he has had at different times in his life. Alicia encourages him to really express that emotion when he sings this song. Alicia wants to see Vanessa open up as she sings If I Were Your Woman by Gladys Knight and the Pips. She needs to sell the desperation that is expressed in the song.

Both do a great job. Gwen loved Jack’s song choice and was blown away by Vanessa. Adam thought Jack was a little bit off and he would have to pick Vanessa. Blake thought Vanessa was remarkable. Alicia decides Vanessa wins this knockout. All the judges continue to rave about Vanessa’s performance.

Team Adam pairs Davina Leone against Jesse Larson. Davina has been singing on Youtube for seven years. She is so thankful that Adam stole her away after her time with Gwen. She will sing Toxic by Brittany Spears. Adam encourages her to change some of the melodies in the song. Jesse will be singing for his wife. She has been his biggest supporter. He will sing The Letter by Joe Cocker. Adam feels he is a beast.

Blake loved both performances but felt that Jesse just burned the house down. Alicia felt Davina expressed such deep emotion that she would have to pick Davina. Gwen was impressed with Jesse’s command of his voice. Adam decides that Jesse wins the knockout.

Jesse wasn’t the only person to advance for Adam’s team. Malik Devage and Mark Isaiah compete and Mark wins with his performance of Love Yourself. Gwen pairs Brandon Royal against JChosen because she thinks they are both soulful R&B singers and she only needs one going forward. Since the blind completion JChosen mother had a stroke. He is now fueled to succeed for her. He will sing Without You by David Guetta. This song really speaks to him about the current situation with his mother. Gwen wants to see his raw emotions. Brandon will sing Redemption Song by Bob Marley. Marley has been his idol for as long as he can remember. Gwen wants him to project his confidence.

Adam loved that Brandon put his own spin on his song. JChosen would be his pick simply because he crushed it. Blake thought that Brandon killed it but he would pick JChosen also. Alicia thought JChosen’s voice was very pure. Gwen decides JChosen wins this knockout round. He will represent Team Gwen at the live performance.

Team Blake is up next with Aliyah Moulden versus Caroline Sky. They are his two pop singers and he thinks their energy levels are a good match. Aliyah’s father died when she was just a month old. She feels his spirit with her when she sings. She will perform Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood. While she has never had a boyfriend she thinks her drama classes will help her perform this song. Blake encourages her to relax. Caroline has been singing in her family band for many years. She will sing At Last by Etta James. She learned the song when she was just 12 years old. Blake wants her to enunciate and be powerful. She wants to do her best to show Blake her gratitude for stealing her. Blake decides that Aliyah wins the knockout.

Gwen is up next with Stephanie Rice versus Troy Ramey. Gwen paired these to performers together because she thinks they are both such emotional singers. Stephanie will sing Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift. This song lyrics expresses how she feels when she sings, so safe. Gwen encourages her to smile when she sings the words “safe and sound”. Troy has held many different jobs while he had to pay the bills so he could play music. He will perform Chandelier by Sia. He knows that song will be a huge challenge but that is want he wants. He changes it so much that Gwen wants him to stick to the original melody and then make subtle changes to make it his own.

Adam has grown to love Stephanie but just couldn’t let go of Troy. Blake loved them both but Troy shows a new and different side every time he performs. He would pick Troy. Alicia does not envy Gwen since both are so amazing. Gwen decided Troy will go on for her team. Alicia steals Stephanie to represent her team in the live performances.
