Fans of The Walking Dead are still not happy over Glenn’s death. Even actor Steven Yeun appears to be upset over the scene. It’s no surprise since he’s been there since the beginning of the show. Steven Yeun has been talking about the storyline that rocked season 7. He has addressed his willingness to return to the AMC series as Glenn Rhee, but under the right conditions.
Glenn Rhee’s character quickly became a fan favorite of The Walking Dead. Fans also loved his onscreen chemistry with character Maggie Greene. They quickly became one of the most popular couples on the show. Ever since Steven Yeun appeared on the show, he’s become a staple alongside protagonist Rick Grimes.
Of course, Glenn died on season 7 when Negan killed the character with his trusted baseball bat, Lucille. The scene was horrific and fans weren’t happy with the way the character was offed. It even received complaints from viewers who watch the series with their families and young children in the room.
Steven Yeun doesn’t have any ill feelings about his character being killed off. He’s even considered returning to the show. During his interview with Australia’s Daily Telegraph, he revealed that he would be willing to come back to The Walking Dead under a few conditions. Yeun stated that he wouldn’t want his return to look “forced.” But, he’s “totally down” and would love for his character’s fate to be “open” for interpretation.
He’s thankful that The Walking Dead gave him a platform. When Steven Yeun started out on the show, he was doing sketch comedy and improv shows in Chicago. He then moved to Los Angeles and found his big break out on the smash series. Yeun’s career after the series has been going well. He’s currently promoting his new film, Okja. Yeun’s return to the show could save it since ratings have steadily been declining. He also admitted that The Walking Dead did a lot for his acting career, so it would make sense as to why he would return the favor.
Steven Yeun would have to return to The Walking Dead in a way that made sense to his character. It’s clear that his character was murdered as it was depicted onscreen. It’s unlikely that Yeun’s character would return as a walker. However, he would be a headless walker. Still, Yeun’s return isn’t out of the question as of yet. The show has teased viewers about character’s deaths in the past and have thrown in dream sequences.
