The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Cane’s (Daniel Goddard) monumentally misguided actions will end his marriage and erase the trust he has with his children. Unlike his father Colin (Tristan Rogers), who was forgiven by Jill (Jess Walton) for making an unauthorized withdrawal from her bank account, Cane will soon be severed by Lily (Christel Khalil).
Whether Lane is over forever, or just for awhile remains in question. But the real difference between Jill forgiving Colin a handful of months ago and Lily’s reaction boils down to one name, Juliet (Laur Allen). Why did Cane feel compelled to meet Jesse’s (Max Adler) blackmail demand? Well, who caused Juliet to loose her job, which then provoked the sexual harassment claim at Brash and Sassy? Right, it was Mr. Ashby.
The compounding effect of the Tokyo storyline twist and this incredible, purposeful, unnecessary breach of basic trust will be too much for Lily to take. Jeopardizing their children’s immediate future is absolutely unforgivable and begs a legitimate question.
Isn’t it obvious by now that Cane needs professional help? He’s unable to control his impulses and has made so many awful decisions that psychological counseling and a real recovery plan are truly needed.
If Cane doesn’t get help it’s possible to believe that he’ll put his own life in danger, along with whoever might be close to him whenever that day arrives. Lily will force her husband to leave their home because he’s a clear and present danger to his children, her and himself.
As viewers recall, Jill learned that Colin had tapped into her bank account to invest in a business proposition. He also admitted to having done so in the past, but also to having replaced the money. Jill loves Colin, just as Lily loves Cane. But Colin never put anyone in danger, he didn’t cheat on Jill and lie about it, or pay some guy to sabotage Billy, like Cane did.
Cane only has one option at this point. He needs to come clean, admit all that he’s done and seek help. However, because Cane has betrayed his loved ones he might only have one person to turn to. Yes, Colin.
If this plays out as expected, Colin won’t spurn Cane. Having lived through so many lies he’ll try to help Cane in whatever way he can.
