The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Cane (Daniel Goddard) will accept Jack’s (Peter Bergman) offer and join Jabot Cosmetics. After doing so he’ll either agree to help Jack attack his former employer, or be forced into compliance. Cane was understandably terminated by Victoria (Amelia Heinle).
However, that left Mr. Ashby with no way to provide for his family. Word of his being fired for sexual harassment has gotten around Genoa City. Cane is in desperate need of a job, but is a pariah in local business circles. That fact may make him ineligible for hire elsewhere, which is what Jack could be counting on.
Jack isn’t being generous. Cane’s needs are a secondary matter, if that. No, the head of Jabot Cosmetics sees an opportunity to hire someone who has proprietary information about a competitor. And that former employee may be motivated to battle his former employer, which is right up Jack’s dark alley.
If the entire Juliet (Laur Allen) incident didn’t happen, it’s highly unlikely that Cane would have pursued a position at Jabot. While Vickie and Billy’s (Jason Thompson) histrionics were annoying, Cane tolerated the office atmosphere because his salary and benefits afforded his family a comfortable living.
Along with the above, Jack was warned by Abby (Melissa Ordway) not to force her into making a choice between families. Victor’s (Eric Braeden) main minion, who’s also his second-born daughter, caught Jack and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) kissing. Abby’s uncle didn’t care that he’d been seen smooching and advised his niece to tell her father whatever she wished to.
That interplay also telegraphed Jack’s intent to use Cane for reasons beyond Brash and Sassy’s corporate information. Mr. Abbott needs generals in order to battle multiple business and personal enemies on various fronts.
Cane and Jack currently share a mutual hatred of Billy. So, Cane surely won’t have any trouble mustering the energy needed to fight the younger Abbott brother. Throwing Billy off his game could potentially hurt Vickie’s company, which is Jack’s partial intent.
However, the Los Angeles incident still looms. As viewers recall, Cane sabotaged the DARE commercial shoot with the intent of making Billy look bad. Of course, Cane hasn’t typed that point into his digital resume and won’t voluntary offer the information either.
That reveal will play out later this year. Yes, Jack is seeking to hire someone who may do more damage to his company, than to Vickie’s. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless. Check back regularly for Y&R spoilers and news!
