The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that you can expect some big changes at the CBS soap. As the show’s executive producer and new head writer, Mal Young has some interesting goals in mind. In a new Soap Opera Digest interview, Young offers some hints about his vision. We can expect a faster pace and more airtime for core characters.
Young also plans to clean house a bit. Many newbies will be written off once they’ve served their storyline purpose. There may be some exceptions, but it sounds like most of the recently employed actors should be worried! Let’s consider how Young might write some of the newbies out.
First, there’s Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood). This snooze-worthy character should really be at the top of Young’s cut list. Jordan is merely a backup boyfriend with no personality. For his exit, Young could have Jordan take a photography job elsewhere or bolt when someone uncovers a shocker from his past.
Next, we have Graham (Max Shippee). This one’s a no-brainer. It looks Graham could find himself six feet under by the end of his run. Graham can proclaim his loyalty to Dina (Marla Adams) all he wants, but we’re not buying it. He’s only looking out for number one!
The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that Dina may resort to murder. That wouldn’t be too surprising considering what Graham has put her family through. Perhaps the Abbotts could work together to make sure Dina stays out of prison. A stunning cover-up could be on the way.
Juliet’s (Laur Allen) another character who’s overstayed her welcome. She’ll likely lose the baby and leave town or die in childbirth. Now for the teens. Mattie (Lexi Stevenson), Charlie (Noah Gerry Alexander) and Reed (Tristan Lake-Leabu) might be kept around just to have some younger characters in the mix.
If not, boarding school is only a phone call away. Reed could go back to live with his dad if need be. As for Zack (Ryan Ashton), prison or death seem like good options. His storyline will definitely be winding down within the next few weeks.
Ravi (Abhi Sinha), Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) and Scott (Daniel Hall) could be the wild cards. Some Y&R fans think Ravi should simply be developed a little more. He’s not a bad match for Ashley (Eileen Davidson). Likewise, it’d be a shame to see Tessa leave when things are just getting juicy with Mariah (Camryn Grimes). Scott also has family ties, so maybe that’ll be enough to keep him in town for a while.
