The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Victor’s (Eric Braeden) suggestion that Nick (Joshua Morrow) spy on Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) will lead to the eventual end of Chick. Whether father and son are able to forge a reconciliation after all facts are revealed is another matter.
Seasoned The Young and the Restless viewers will rightly say that Chelsea will expose Victor’s knowledge of Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity if she ever learns that The Moustache turned Nick against her. True, but further developments are likely to appear in this soapy story thereby serving to somewhat negate Nick’s feelings about Victor’s secondary knowledge of Christian’s paternity.
Chelsea has known that Christian is Adam’s (formerly played by Justin Hartley) child since last year. Chadam purely opted to withhold that information from Nick for compassionate reasons. Having just suffered the tragic death of his spouse, after previously believing that his son had died rendered Nick a doubly poor soul.
Adam told Chelsea that genetic tests confirmed he was Christian’s child earlier last year. That boy was conceived when Chadam was separated and Sage and Nick were split as well. So Chelsea wasn’t actually betrayed, which allowed her to more easily accept what Adam had done. Plus, keeping Adam’s secret at the time presented no problems for her.
The game changed when Adam was allegedly killed in the cabin explosion. Chelsea immediately went to seek Victor’s counsel about the outstanding Christian issue. He advised his daughter-in-law to maintain Adam’s wishes, citing the pain that would be caused if the truth was told. The Christian reveal later reinforced the feelings Chelsea and Victor held about that topic.
Chelsea and Nick developed their personal relationship within the last six months. During that time Chelsea again felt conflicted about withholding such critical information from the man who transformed from her brother-in-law into a significant other.
The Moustache currently believes that Chelsea will be pursuing danger if she attempts to hunt Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) down. While he’s right, the Black Knight always has at least one hidden agenda. In this case Victor might hold enough leverage to stop Chelsea’s pursuits, as he can remind her of the Christian secret she’s withholding.
Victor doesn’t have a full relationship with his son right now. So having his knowledge of the Christian paternity issue exposed isn’t as much of a consideration as it would be during good times. However, Chelsea wants a future with Nick. So she has more to loose than the man who’s remained Christian’s grandfather regardless of paternity truths.
This gives Victor the ability to blackmail and silence Chelsea if she gets too close to truth about his conspiracies with Chloe.
