The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Colin Blunders, Encourages Jill To Dance on Katherine’s Grave – Hard To Beat Hypocrisy

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Colin (Tristan Rogers) actually managed to make Jill (Jess Walton) madder. Telling his wife that Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) was an albatross around her neck and that she should be dancing on her grave was a tactical mistake. Those foolish statements also caused Jill’s blood pressure to rise, which created the need for an intensive care nurse to visit.

Colin can’t do anything right lately. An apparently non-rehabilitated criminal, his theft of Jill’s monetary assets was explained away as borrowing. Only sorry because he was caught, Mr. Atkinson actually sat by Jill’s bedside in intensive care and thought it was okay to bad-mouth Katherine. Not a smart thing to do.

Reckless and irresponsible are two clean adjectives that can be used to describe Jill’s husband. But, to be fair viewers must concede the same point that Mrs. Atkinson verbalized. She knew Colin was bad news when she met him and later married him. But she convinced herself that he wouldn’t scam her.

A worthwhile counterpoint was made by Neil (Kristoff St. John) at the Genoa City Athletic Club earlier in the week. He said that it wasn’t lost on him that Colin hadn’t fled town after Jill was hospitalized. Knowing that his wife was broke, through his own hands nonetheless, also meant that he didn’t know if she’d ever be wealthy again. So it was reasonable to conclude that Colin does love his wife despite his actions.

Neil encouraged Colin to be the man that Jill fell in love with. He took Neil’s advice and bought a pricey bouquet of flowers. Whether he used Jill’s money to do so, stole them off someone’s grave or swiped them at a local store hasn’t been confirmed. But his intentions appeared genuine until he opened his big mouth about the “Old goat”, which, as devoted viewers know represented one of Jill’s nicknames for her nemesis through Y&R’s glory years.

Jill’s response to Colin’s lack of impulse control, or common sense, likely reminded viewers of any person(s) they themselves might have spoken about disparagingly over time. Some people believe that it’s okay to attack a foe. However, if anyone else tries to do the same years later, after a supposed epiphany has taken place, well that’s just plain wrong.

Colin was fighting hypocrisy by raising Jill’s history with Katherine. If he ever hopes to rebuild his marriage he’ll need to take a different tack. An immediate reunion doesn’t appear to be in the offing in the meantime. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless.
