The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Dina’s (Marla Adams) safety net has been pulled. Graham’s (Max Shippee) sudden return to Paris means that Dina has been left on her own. That situation isn’t tenable, as she knows.
The last thing Dina wants is to be exposed. She worked hard to establish and maintain her business reputation. Dina’s pride matters greatly as well. That’s why Graham is so valuable to her, as he helps Dina maintain her false front.
Ashley (Eileen Davidson) has come a long way. Initially, she rejected Dina due to the painful history that her mother subjected her to. Ashley and Dina agree that the role Brent Davis (Bert Kramer) played in the past, with him being her biological father, should be kept secret from Abby (Melissa Ordway).
This scribe disagrees with both women’s conclusions. He thinks they are being selfish by protecting their own egos and are wrongly shielding Abby from a biological history that she deserves to know. And, Abby has matured into a supportive and thoughtful soul. She can handle that news.
Other than Jerry Douglas’ recurring appearances, it’s not as if John Abbott, Senior is still alive. It’s not possible to hurt a spirit’s feelings. Yes, Ashley and Dina are being petty in this instance.
Dina continues to use Graham as a barrier. He’s a human shield against Ashley and Jack (Peter Bergman) learning the full truth about Dina’s true mental capacity. Some people don’t handle the drive toward the Pearly Gates well.
Dina’s brain isn’t functioning as efficiently as it once did, which could be diagnosed as the early signs of dementia. Her refusal to accept that fact is a mistake. Madame Mergeron’s stance dates back to the reason why she felt compelled to abandon her family many decades ago. She doesn’t trust other people.
At this stage of Dina’s life she should not be relying more heavily on Graham than she does her own children. How long she’ll be able to do so is unknown, as it seems increasingly likely that Ashley and Jack, or someone at Jabot, possibly Ravi (Abhi Sinha), or Gloria (Judith Chapman), will confirm that Dina isn’t capable of producing the work she’s claimed ownership of.
Graham’s absence offers an opportunity for Dina to be exposed, which could actually create a positive outcome. Shippee’s character may, or may not have Dina’s best interests at heart. But Ashley, Jack and Traci (Beth Maitland) do.
Together, Dina’s children can help her. But first she must allow them to do so. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless. Check back regularly for Y&R spoilers and news!
