The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers have some potentially exciting news for new and longtime fans of the hit CBS soap. We have just learned that Chuck Pratt will not be returning as showrunner for the second season of Lee Daniels’ FOX prime time series ‘Star.’ Could this mean Pratt will return to The Young and the Restless?
When Chuck Pratt left The Young and the Restless many claimed they were thrilled to see him go but many of those same Y&R fans are biting their tongues now! Since Pratt left in 2016 and the new regime took over social media shows that some fans miss the exciting storylines that were common under his leadership.
The Young and the Restless fans typically get to enjoy some serious cliffhangers and big reveals during February sweeps that they actually care about – but keeping fans on the edge of their seats waiting to see what would happen to a beloved character or couple seemed to be absent in 2017.
Chuck Pratt gave us stories like the plane crash that nearly killed the entire Winters family. How about all the DNA twists while he was at the helm, they may have driven us crazy wondering why Memorial Hospital’s labs were so accessible, but they made for entertaining Y&R stories.
The Young and the Restless spoilers claim Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton) had huge potential when he arrived, but once the revelation was out of him being Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Paul Williams’ (Douglas Davidson) son his storyline seemed to fizzle out quickly. This wasn’t a Pratt strong point according to certain fans.
Bringing back Adam Newman (Justin Hartley) from the dead after Michael Muhney was fired was something fans had begged for; but the question in most Y&R fans minds is why bring him back only to kill him off in a cabin explosion less than 2 years later? Now they want to unite Adam’s brother Nick (Joshua Morrow) with Adam’s wife, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan)….
Which of The Young and the Restless fan is excited by the fact that the great and formerly omnipotent Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is sitting at home content in a rocking chair tending to his grandchildren? Pratt was responsible for the great villains we had over the past few years, like Marco Annicelli (Peter Bergman) and the Santori family, especially Luca (Miles Gaston Villanueva). Now It seems like Genoa City is a magical portal, and many main characters just vanish into thin air – gone without explanation, their storylines with them.
Chuck Pratt does action daytime – explosions, murders, DNA swapping, wild intrigue – but most of all storylines that keep fans buzzing and the show hopping. Could bringing Pratt back inject some lively excitement and compelling storylines into Y&R? No doubt Sally Sussman respects Y&R’s legacy and that is an important element – Mal Young is certainly a skilled asset as well – but having said that, this writer does miss the intensity and grand drama of which Chuck Pratt is a master.
