The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Jack (Peter Bergman) is attempting to win Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) heart (again). In so doing he’ll be sticking his finger in Victor’s (Eric Braeden) eye one more time. Jack has long known that Victor is all wrong for Nikki.
Not believed, known. Mr. Blowhard has treated that great woman like a dish rag since the 1980’s. Even though Bergman didn’t embody Mr. Abbott until 1989, he’s magically retained Terry Lester’s memories. Yes, that last line winked at savvy soap fans. Thanks for winking back, as always.
So Nikki recently decided that she’d had enough of Victor. That came after Nick (Joshua Morrow) became a self-appointed sleuth, discovering that his father was the reason Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) was recklessly released from a mental health facility. Her subsequent explosive offing of Adam (Justin Hartley) eventually created a cascading Newman effect.
Nick told his mom and sister what dad had done. Nikki and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) were revolted. Nikki’s family plan then had the trio present a united public front, while freezing Victor out of their lives behind closed doors.
Jack has sensed something being off during the past handful of months. His assessment was centered upon Nikki not rushing to the defense of her husband as she had done so often in the past. Like Segundo looking for a bone on the Newman Ranch grounds, Jack kept sniffing and digging.
Meanwhile, the charity benefit was concocted by Victor so he could worm his way back into Nikki’s good graces. He’d play her like a fiddle, while she prepared to stroke the ivories in front Genoa City’s elite, all for a good cause. To no one’s surprise, Victor’s efforts (which weren’t fully manipulative) initially appeared to have succeeded.
Nikki endured a Multiple Sclerosis flare-up, which combined with emotional and physical pain as she was preparing for her piano performance that took place in the beautifully prepared Chancellor Pavilion setting. While Niktor restated their love for each other on that night, a kiss between Nikki and Jack followed.
Being a bachelor for the umpteenth time in his life means that Jack is able to redo his nuptials with Mrs. Nicole Newman nee Reed. Obviously Victor must be pushed away before that happens.
Jack can’t be dismissed by anyone who thinks Nikki would never leave Victor for his nemesis, as she’s done that before. This reimagined scenario could play out as 2017 unfolds and if that’s the case will likely be skillfully written by Sally Sussman and her team at Y&R.
