The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Jack Open To Dina – Mother Serious About Redemption, Reconciles With Ashley

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Jack’s (Peter Bergman) openness to Dina (Marla Adams) is genuine and will serve to help reestablish ties between Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and her mother. While history can’t be forgotten, a path to real redemption will be created.

Dina abandoned her family three decades ago. That point isn’t exaggerated, as can often be the case with emotional memories. The choice she made left permanent scars on the souls of her husband John (Jerry Douglas) and three children, none more so than Ashley.

Ashley’s feelings were linked to Dina having betrayed John by having an affair. The result produced Ashley, a fact she didn’t learn until later in life. However, John never learned that truth while he was alive.

It would be an interesting plot point to have John’s ghost discuss the Dina issue with Jack. Douglas hasn’t been seen in awhile. His late character often returns when Jack needs counsel from his father. Would Y&R allow John’s otherworldly persona to gain knowledge of Dina’s action, which created Ashley, thereby furthering the plot in a different dimensional form?

Refocusing on living bodies – Ashley gave her biological mother the cold shoulder after finding Dina at the Abbott estate. No viewer blamed her, but everyone was curious about the intentions behind Madame’s demeanor.

Dina is in town to finalize a deal that will sell Mergeron Enterprises (her second husband’s French company that she inherited and grew to enormous proportions) to the newly formed Winters-Hamilton corporation. An interesting fine point in that contract, that Devon (Bryton James) and Neil (Kristoff St. John) have agreed to, will allow Dina to remain on the board.

Is this savvy business woman selling because she wants to retire, or feels that the value of her company is ripe for release? It’s possible that she might be going to join John in the great beyond in the near future, as some type of terminal disease, or even a dementia-related issue has been realized. Surely something significant has developed to enable current proceedings.

Viewers are wondering if Adams will remain on the show as a recurring character, or her presence will simply allow an undone storyline to be tied. While this lady is no Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper), she was friends with the ‘Grand Dame’ since they were children. If Dina is retained she might serve to broaden that age group category, but surely wouldn’t be intended as a Katherine replacement.
