The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Lily (Christel Khalil) is serious about the divorce, which will happen. Her meeting with Michael (Christian Le Blanc) begins the formal process that will end Lane, much to the chagrin of this couple’s many fans.
Cane (Daniel Goddard) had hoped that Lily’s presence at the marriage counseling session was a breakthrough. But that meeting turned out to be a one-off that caused Mrs. Ashby to re-access her life. She realized that she’s been lied to and hurt too much. She doesn’t trust Cane and so he’s gone.
Redemption was Cane’s goal. He’d been working toward a full restoration of his family and was only able to keep himself together because Lily appeared willing to give him a second chance. But the time and space he offered to his wife proved merely to be a space-filler from their legal link to its coming extinction.
Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) and Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) love their father. Like their mom, they were crushed in learning that Juliet (Laur Allen) was going to have Cane’s baby.
The SORAS’d twins were coming around. But Lily synthesized that progress as she made her final decision. Cane will have split priorities once the baby is born and Mrs. Ashby didn’t want to be part of that eventual reality.
Living at the Chancellor mansion is something that Cane will likely do indefinitely. Jill (Jess Walton) and Colin (Tristan Rogers) seem certain to return to town in the near future, as Walton and Rogers are well-liked recurring characters. Possibly they’ll be injected into this arc when the baby’s about to be born around the Christmas holiday.
Maybe Jill will allow Juliet to move in before or after the event occurs? Scenes linking Katherine’s (Jeanne Cooper) longtime nemesis, Jill, to Esther (Kate Linder) and Juliet would prove intriguing.
One odd aspect of this evolving storyline involves Cane’s ongoing conversations with Hilary (Mishael Morgan), which were seen again this week at the Genoa City Athletic Club. It’s understood that Hilary wants a Lane reunion, as that would free Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) for her to pursue.
Logically, Cane would not choose to divulge confidential information to a woman who once drugged him and later caused plenty of trouble for his family. So there must be some other angle to Y&R’s platonic pairing of these misfit confidants. There is Young and Restless buzz out there that Cane and Hilary are destined to become lovers. Of course anything is possible and double so on Y&R! Genoa City could see a CaHil pairing before to long.
So, despite the hopes of Lane supporters, Lily and Cane are now officially moving to individual status – to add insult to injury imagine the disgusted reaction of many fans should Lily’s nemesis wind up bedding her ex-husband. In this scribe’s opinion, this drama represents good soap.
