The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Shott’s bliss will disintegrate. Hardly an enduring couple, this mashed pair formed earlier this year as a seeming swap-out when Steve Burton (Dylan) jumped back to General Hospital. Now that Abby (Melissa Ordway) has become an appealing option, Scabby appears ready to form.
Yes, the moniker applied to Scott (Daniel Hall) and Abby is icky. But it’s memorable and thus will be applied, not ripped away. Anti-Scabby forces also won’t be given ointment and thus will remain itchy.
Okay, let’s be real honest. Is the chemistry between Sharon (Sharon Case) and Scott so thick, so amazing, so incredible, so whatever else, that Y&R can’t possibly rip this duo in half? Uh, no. They’re okay, nothing more, or less.
Sharon was thankfully written in a strong direction by former head writer Sally Sussman and her team. That welcomed revert had been far too long in coming. Executive producer and now head writer Mal Young will hopefully allow Case’s character to deal logically with the looming break up that appears to be telegraphed.
It would be natural for anyone to be hurt and angry if Sharon and Scott actually end their relationship. But fans of Case’s character fans don’t want to see Sharon written off the rails in response to whatever personal issues she may face as ScAbby’s cheating comes to light.
Ordway’s real life pregnancy will result in her leaving the cast shortly. Considering that episodes are filmed weeks in advance, Abby may then disappear in January or February. Whether her romantic interactions with Zack (Ryan Ashton) and Scott result in an on-screen pregnancy could easily play into how Abby’s storyline. Possibly, that’s the intent of what’s been developing recently?
The talent of Case, Ordway and Hall isn’t being questioned by this scribe in any way. All actors are respected. Case, in particular, ranks with the best of Y&R’s deep cast, including its legacy members. Subsequently pairing Sharon with someone else, or allowing her to remain single, offers positive opportunities.
The mix of Scott and Abby has been teased by Y&R for months. When recently asked by his emerging love interest, Scott said that he thinks they have chemistry. He’s right, as Abby’s feelings were affirmed.
By the way, Abby’s name isn’t used before Scott’s because Abbott (the first half of Abby’s name and the last half of Scott’s) can’t be used as their nickname because it’s Abby’s mother’s maiden name and would be too confusing. So, Scabby it is now and forever, or until Y&R decides that these characters need to pursue other romantic options inside their soapy world.
