The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that a big comeback could be in the works. Adam Newman’s return once again seems like a possibility. Mal Young is now pulling double duty as Y&R’s head writer and executive producer. He’ll have a clear vision and a lot of control.
At a fan event, Young refused to address the rumblings of Adam’s revival. Perhaps that was a good sign. Young could’ve just denied it and moved on, but he chose to stay silent. He may have had a strategy in mind.
Michael Muhney was fired after some controversial incidents on set and Justin Hartley eventually took his place. Both versions of Adam were popular with fans, but Hartley obviously isn’t an option anymore. His new show, This Is Us, is a huge hit. Hartley has found primetime fame and he’s not looking back.
Muhney is also dipping his toe into primetime, but it sounds like it’s only a guest spot. He recently tweeted about an upcoming appearance on ABC’s new medical drama, The Good Doctor. Muhney said he’d be in the episode airing October 16, so this role is apparently a one-time deal.
If you follow Muhney’s Twitter account, you know he’s more than willing to return as Adam. He’s said so repeatedly. Roles were hard to come by after a scandal forced Muhney off Y&R. However, he’s ready for a second chance and his latest primetime gig could be the ticket.
Even though the part isn’t long-term, ABC is at least giving the guy a shot. Maybe Mal Young intends on giving Muhney one, too. He might’ve wanted to test the waters by letting this guest spot air first.
Muhney is putting his face and name back out there. That could be helpful if Young is preparing a place for Muhney as Adam. The Young and the Restless viewers know Muhney can play the role. He did it quite well before Hartley took over and he could easily do it again.
It takes some time to negotiate and plan major comebacks, but Adam could pop up down the road. The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that some exciting stuff is coming, so Adam’s return would fit right in. If Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Victor (Eric Braeden) are still at odds by then, Adam would have to pick a side.
Is Young saving Adam for a spring shocker? Could Michael Muhney appear during May sweeps or possibly a little earlier? We’ll give you updates as other Y&R news comes in. Stay tuned to the CBS soap and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news.
