The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) attempt to distance himself from Victor (Eric Braeden) will continue to be roadblocked. As he and many others have come to know, as soon as the head of the Newman clan realizes, or believes that he’s been crossed Hades hath no fury like The Moustache scorned.
Having his Genoa City Athletic Club membership pulled was no big deal. But having some of The Underground’s expansion plans blocked by his dad and being kicked out of the Tack House created new challenges for Nick.
Victor has long been a problem for everyone in Genoa City. However, no one has suffered more than his multiple time bride Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and his children.
The Black Knight has punished Vickie (Amelia Heinle) and Abby (Melissa Ordway) through the years. He also viciously mauled Adam (most recently played by Justin Hartley) on many occasions. But it can be argued that no one has endured such a lengthy back and forth with Victor, among all children than Nicholas.
Being the first-born son meant an early life of privilege. But when Nick returned from his European boarding school, as the SORAS’d edition that Morrow has portrayed since 1994, excessive expectations were applied.
Victor’s business demands often proved to be absurd. For awhile Nick gravitated back and forth between the family business and other pursuits. But he left the company for good a few years ago. For accuracy, it should be noted that Nick did return to help his sister and Adam run Newman when the family’s testimony sent Victor to prison. Since that point though Nick’s remained divorced from that portion of what Victor sees as a legacy.
The Underground’s importance increased since Y&R wrote Noah (Robert Adamson) back to more regular status. No longer was night club simply Nick’s getaway business. Instead, he allowed Noah to become the manager. The resulting father-son synergy served as a stark contrast to the dysfunctional relationship that Victor was mostly responsible for creating with Nick.
All viewers who attempt to make Nick the majority blame-holder must be in Victor’s back pocket, or deeply misguided. No matter how old any child gets, the parent retains responsibility for being the better person. On that point Victor hasn’t always failed, but his recent actions are totally deplorable.
A new low in this relationship quickly developed after Nick discovered that Victor was linked to Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson). He then rightly told Nikki and Vickie that sordid tale. Then came Nick punching Victor in the stables, which was Nick’s fault, followed by Victor punching Nick in the Newman Towers garage.
However, Victor’s choice to give Hilary (Mishael Morgan) the go-ahead to smear Nick’s name across the internet was despicable. That’s not how a father should ever behave toward his son. No real man would ever consider, or actual employ such cowardly tactics. The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that The Moustache’s lust for vengeance will backfire shockingly as this story unfolds.
At this point Victor seems unlikely to quench his thirst for vengeance any time soon. But maybe he’s underestimated how Nick will choose to defend his own family if Victor continues to cross thinned blood lines?
