The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) reckless attempt to stop his mother’s charity concert performance puts him at loggerheads with his father. The knowledge Victor (Eric Braeden) possesses about Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) true paternity is now closer to being revealed than ever before.
Nick’s actions within a masterfully set-scored Chancellor Park, where Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) was scheduled to play, were reprehensible. If one was pre-reading Y&R’s script and didn’t see that the Nick character was scheduled to pull the soda stunt, it would have been understandable to assume Victor was the villain.
Arguments that Nick was acting in his mother’s best interests purposely divert attention away from Morrow’s alter ego. Yes, Nikki has been stressed. But if Nick truly believed that damaging the sound board was the best course of action to take then he would have asked his mother for her approval. Of course, he didn’t though.
Like his father, Nick often feels he knows what’s best. As the years have past, Nick actually has concluded that his father is a menace. That’s despite the fact that the so-called Black Knight saved Nick’s hide on many occasions.
Has Victor been tough on his son? Sure. But many of the issues Nick faced with his own children should have served as an enlightening life lesson. Apparently no wisdom has been gained.
Victor’s protective nature veers off the road at times. But his instincts are often proven right in many instances. And none of the Newman family members would likely be living nearly as good as they are without Victor’s brilliant tough-mindedness.
Finally, the Adam Newman (Justin Hartley) issue must be referenced for at least two reasons. Nick recently learned that Victor was connected to Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) return to Genoa City. Of course she later admitted to killing Adam, if he’s actually dead. That tell served to reinforce Nick’s stereotyped feelings about The Moustache.
Nick basically bonded with his brother when he thought Adam might stay in prison for up to 30 years. Otherwise, he never loved, or even liked the man.
As viewers know, Adam believed that he was Christian’s biological father. He told Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) as much. Together Chick decided not to add to Nick’s grief burden after Sage (Kelly Sullivan) died and everyone, except Sharon (Sharon Case), Sandy (Elizabeth Bogush) and that nurse thought Christian-Sully was dead. Separately, Victor deduced that Christian was Adam’s child, convinced Chelsea to remain mum after Adam’s death and ever since.
When Nick’s sabotage is exposed, Victor may well respond in anger by revealing Christian’s paternity. If that happens, viewers will then expect the long-awaiting recast and return of Victor Adam Newman, Junior. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless.
