The Young and the Restless spoilers (Y&R) tease that Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) won’t be working the pole at The Bayou again. That vertical opportunity ended long ago. But if Nikki wants to partake in the publicity that Victor’s (Eric Braeden) forthcoming biography will create, she’ll revive the fabled strip joint she once worked at and serve as its madam. Niktor met at that gentleman’s club, as hardcore The Young and the Restless fans know. No, the term hardcore wasn’t intended as a pun. But yes, the genesis of Y&R’s greatest couple began in a very soapy fashion.
Nikki appeared in Genoa City for the first time in 1979. Victor was recruited by Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) to run Phillip’s (Donnelly Rhodes) company in 1980. Julia (Meg Bennett) the first wife that Y&R viewers knew Victor to have. She later became involved with a photographer (Michael, played by Nicholas Benedict) and got pregnant. The baby was initially believed to be Michael’s, but proved to be Victor’s after a sad miscarriage occurred.
Julia’s involvement with Michael eventually caused both characters to leave town. That was the earliest instance of Victor’s controlling nature, as he was violently jealous of the man Julia was interested in. So Nikki wasn’t the first woman to endure the Moustache’s personality quirks.
In the early 1980’s Bill Bell’s (Y&R’s founder) team, which included producer Edward Scott, put Braeden and Thomas (at the time) together. That relationship sparked after Victor’s companion Colonel Douglas Austin (Michael Evans) suggested that the he join him at The Bayou. That trip proved to be historic.
Victor bought property from Katherine and built the Ranch that he and Julia first lived in. After Julia’s exit, the romance with Nikki took place and Niktor eventually married in 1984. They lived at the Ranch as well. As for Scott, he married Thomas in 1985.
The Young and the Restless fans believe that Nikki’s latest outrage will eventually pass. But she’s currently disgusted with Victor because of what he’s admitted. Choosing to recruit Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) to frame Adam (Justin Hartley), which then led to his murder was too much for the multiple-time Mrs. Newman to take.
Nikki has since convinced the children she bore through Victor (Nick, Joshua Morrow, and Victoria, Amelia Heinle) to cut Victor out of their personal lives. Niktor’s self-congratulatory nature is always reaffirmed when the names of their only two children are referenced by the way.
Whenever Scott finishes writing Victor’s version of I’ll Be Damned (which is the title of Braeden’s recent autobiography) is published, Nikki will have a chance to make a publicity splash response. Revisiting her roots would be a great choice to make if throwback fun is desired. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless.
