The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Graham Bloodworth (Max Shippee) will be confirmed as John Abbot’s (Jerry Douglas) biological son. In a stunning reveal, Y&R’s fall storyline will show that John sought revenge against Dina (Marla Adams) by sleeping with Myrna (Marcia Rodd). At least that’s what Peter Bergman’s (Jack) recent comments imply.
But wouldn’t Graham’s mother have told him who his real father was if the above premise is true? And John supposedly never knew that Ashley (Eileen Davidson) wasn’t his daughter, right? Well, read on an consider the possibilities.
As viewers have seen, Dina has injected plenty of trouble into Genoa City. Everyone can only imagine what she was like in her younger years. Self-involved and inconsistent are two clean terms that come to mind. More course language was deleted.
As hardcore devotees of this soap were recently reminded and newer fans learned, Dina slept with the local tennis pro, Brent Davis (Bert Kramer). It wasn’t a love match, but a lustful romp that produced Ashley.
John never learned that fact, or so Y&R had its characters state for decades. However, what if it’s revealed that John did learn the truth, but never told Dina or later, Ashley? That would set up a revenge scenario.
John’s sainted status would be altered as a result. A recurring visit from Douglas, as John’s ghost talking to Jack, would also be needed.
Myrna surely knows who Graham’s real father is. Graham recently revealed that Brent was merely his stepfather. Neither he, nor Myrna have spoken about his real dad, which seems far to curious.
Rodd’s character is quite quixotic. Wouldn’t it make sense to believe that part of her overall plan involves not only attacking Dina, as already happened, but also to position Graham so he can gain his stake in the Abbott fortune? That makes soapy sense.
So either Graham hasn’t been told this part of his own backstory by his mother, or he’s been clued in to all of it from the beginning. This slippery man’s arrogant attitude always seemed ill-fitting. Much would be explained if he knew that a portion of the Abbott estate would be his all along.
Plot points need to be sharpened by Y&R in upcoming weeks. But at this point it seems increasingly likely (though not certain) that Bergman’s hint at a new Abbott means that Graham is his and Traci’s (Beth Maitland) brother, but not Ashley’s.
Although, Davidson’s character could somehow be confirmed as having been John’s all along as well. The last sentence relates to a gambling phrase. It’s called hedging one’s bets.
