The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Victor (Eric Braeden) made a cold business decision that Abby (Melissa Ordway) didn’t like. The timing and method used to announce Vickie’s (Amelia Heinle) return to Newman Enterprises and new spot as Chief Operating Office was handled wrongly. However, The Moustache made the right choice.
As has been revealed, Zack (Ryan Ashton) is the head of a criminal enterprise. Abby believed that his Design Date app was a cutting edge property that Newman just had to have. So she funded his front for a trafficking ring and now the authorities have frozen Newman’s assets as a result.
To be fair, Victor liked Zack. He also admitted that point to Vickie this week.
Split scenes showed Abby foolishly accompanying Zack out of Newman Towers, while Vickie attempted to handle damage control at the Top of the Tower. This was a weak point in the plot, as Abby’s dizzy demeanor and apparent trust in Mr. Stinnett was presented as the reason why she acceded to leave with him.
Victor basically had no one to turn to for the past year-plus. But Abby was there, eager to do whatever her father asked of her. She even tolerated obnoxious Scott (Daniel Hall), who’s being setup as her next seeming significant other.
Nick (Joshua Morrow) walked away from regular involvement in the family business years ago. He’s not coming back anytime soon, or maybe ever.
Vickie has been like a daily commuter who tries coffee at other convenience stores after souring on her original supplier. That’s how she’s treated the many opportunities her father has given her. Back and forth, back and forth and on and on. Though it must be said that Victor is hard, if not impossible, to work for at times.
Poor Adam Newman (Justin Hartley) is dead, supposedly, so he can’t be of much help to Victor.
As of the moment, there are no other adult children that Victor has sired. That left Abby ready, willing and available. She was used and then discarded by her dad. Is that one reason why she has issues with men?
Viewers know that Scott and Abby won’t die in Zack’s storage locker, especially since they are rescued on Thursday’s new Y&R episode, November 16. They realize that Newman’s funds won’t be locked down forever and that the company will be cleared of any wrongdoing.
Regardless of pro-Abby feelings some fans may have, it’s also impossible to claim that Ordway’s character was the better choice as COO. Vickie is inconsistent, but has far more experience and the better developed business mind.
Abby may gain power some day. But she’s not ready now. After everything is over she’ll probably acknowledge that her sister is the better choice. Sibling rivalry or not, Newman Enterprises needs the sharpest mind in this crucial corporate spot. And that person is Victoria, like it or not. Just another reason TPTB at Y&R need to get Adam Newman back on the canvas sooner rather than later.
