The Young and the Restless spoilers ask fans to decide who is the worse person, Victor Newman or Hilary Curtis. True devotees find worth within every person who lives in Genoa City on The Young and the Restless. However, if a choice was forced to be made then which person would be labeled as the worst – Victor (Eric Braeden) or Hilary (Mishael Morgan)? Don’t be quick to pick Mr. Newman, as the former Mrs. Hamilton would seem to have many more years left on this earth.
In this author’s subjective opinion, Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) is the greatest character, played by the greatest actor to ever work on Y&R. As longtime viewers know, the ‘Grande Dame’ is responsible for bringing Victor to Genoa City.
It seems plausible to believe that CBS’ nighttime soap smash ‘Dallas’ (which debuted in 1978) influenced Victor’s debut, which happened in 1980. J.R. Ewing (played by the phenomenal Larry Hagman) likely tinted Y&R’s thought process, as Mr. Newman went on to become GC’s own version of an oil baron.
Victor has treated his so-called “love”, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) like a queen and a dog. He’s attacked his own children and can still sock a punch, right Nick (Joshua Morrow)? Victor has spent time in jail for some of the crimes he’s committed and even has his thumb prints on Adam’s (Justin Hartley) apparent death.
The ‘Black Knight’ has a past that’s too legendary to fully document in one digital column. More to the point, the fact that certain viewers feel that Victor is the worst character and that others feels he’s easily the best is revealing. He is obviously meant to be a polarizing figure, playing into and against viewer’s own personality types.
However, The Moustache has also provided jobs for thousands across the globe and has donated plenty to charity. Does that make him similar to a conflicted gangster who’s trying to buy his way into Purgatory? The theory being that at least he would have a shot at eventually being with the ‘Big Guy’.
Now consider Hilary. Here’s a secondary character who entered the frame as Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) assailant. She’s railed against many members of the Winters’ clan, marrying both father and son since Morgan’s debut in 2013.
Saucy, gorgeous and sometimes vulnerable. No wonder guys love her and competitive personality types hate her guts. Yes, that wink was at you Lily (Christel Khalil). Hilary’s hardly a role model, but she’s also not a total tool.
Hilary didn’t soak Devon (Bryton James) in the divorce as expected. Yet the head of the ‘Hilary Hour’ has positioned herself as a power broker in Genoa City by promoting devotion to the gossipy arts. And, as many fear, she’s still young enough to produce fierce offspring who could extend her legacy exponentially.
