On his Instagram, Rikaart explains how much he has grown with the character of Kevin and how much their lives resembled each other, could this be one of the reasons he needs to separate himself from his acting career?
Y&R’s Rikaart goes on to say he has great love for the cast and crew of the CBS daytime drama and is sad to be leaving. Greg Rikaart took a moment to thank his fans for being such supportive cheerleaders and encourages them to stick around to see what life holds for him in the near future. Y&R fans have come to adore Kevin Fisher, even though he originally was to be a short-term character. He arrived in Genoa City in 2003, as an internet predator who dated a very young Lily Winters Ashby (Christel Khalil); because of their age difference he was charged with statutory rape but sought help from his older half-brother, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc).
He became a fan favorite as his character evolved before our eyes, even having some incredible love stories with leading ladies like Elizabeth Hendrickson, who portrayed his ill-fated lover and wife, Chloe Mitchell.
In the past 14 years that Greg Rikaart portrayed Kevin, he couldn’t help but note the similarities in their lives. He was able to find love with his husband, Robert Sudduth and in May 2016, they welcomed their son, Montgomery Argo; just as Kevin reunited with Chloe, and although their love story has come to an awful end, Kevin has just learned he is also a father.
