Tom Cruise is currently busy on the interview circuit promoting his upcoming movie, “The Mummy”. While the actor usually side-steps questions about his children and his personal life, he has taken many by surprise by commenting on his 11-year old daughter Suri. He even opened up about his love life in one interview.
Tom appeared to be caught off guard during one interview when the host asked if Suri, his daughter with ex-wife and actress Katie Holmes, would be following in her famous parents footsteps and become an actress as well.
Tom’s response was, “You never know, you never know”. He then quickly changed the subject and talked about his own career and desire to become an actor at an early age. It is rumored that Tom has been estranged from Suri since Katie left both Tom and the controversial religion, Scientology.
Tom does however have one child who has the acting bug, his adoptive son, Connor Cruise has appeared in the films, “Seven Pounds” where he portrayed the young son of Will Smith’s character, and the 2012 movie, “Red Dawn”.
The star also opened up about his very colorful love life and it seems he hasn’t given up on love, despite the fact that he has had three failed marriages. When interviewers asked Tom if he would ever serenade a woman like his character did in the movie, “Top Gun”, Tom said, “I would do that. Yes, I would. I am a romantic. I am definitely as a man, very much. I’m a romantic. I’m also a dreamer. Very practical, but you know, in a big way”.
In 1987, not long after Tom shot to fame, he married actress Mimi Rogers. Their union would only last three years, but she introduced him to Scientology before their 1990 split. Immediately following his separation from Mimi, Tom met a 23 year old Nicole Kidman on the set of their movie, “Days of Thunder”. The two married later that same year and adopted two children, Connor and Isabella.
The former couple stayed married for almost ten years. Tom’s courtship and marriage to Katie Holmes was nothing short of a spectacle, with Tom jumping on Oprah’s couch declaring his love for Katie, and their over-the-top wedding in Italy with tons of celebrities. But, after six years of marriage, Katie famously left both Tom and the Church of Scientology and won custody of their daughter, Suri.
While Tom claims to be romantic and is apparently open to finding love again, it seems he has learned a lesson from his split with Katie. For the past several years, he has opted to keep his private life out of the spotlight.
