Zoo begins tonight with Jackson Oz (James Wolk), Logan Jones (Josh Salatin), Clementine Lewis (Gracie Dzienny), Jamie Campbell (Kristen Connolly) and Mitch Morgan (Billy Burke) at a cabin in Yucatan, Mexico where Abigail Westbrook (Athena Karkanis), Jackson’s sister trapped them surrounded by a new eagle-like hybrid.
Mitch attempts to break the machine that is signaling the hybrids to them while Clementine is freaked out that they are flying and diving in the ground under the house. They all race out of the cabin to the helicopter out back, dodging diving birds as Mitch explains where he has been. When the chopper sinks into the earth, they run to the truck to escape.
Abigail watches them from her cameras, saying her brother is going to miss the big show. Meanwhile, the group drive their truck onto the plane; Jamie says they will be up in five; Jackson scoffs at Jamie making a fortune off of people’s pain. Mitch tells him to stop after she apologizes, saying its more important to know what the hybrids are doing. Their chat is interrupted by a volcano beginning to erupt.
In Ann Arbor, Michigan Abraham Kenyatta (Noso Anozie) and Dariela Marzon (Alyssa Diaz) weigh out their options, Abe feels they should take the risk of finding Clementine in order for them to get their son, Isaac (Jesse Muhoozi) back; but Dariela disagrees saying they only know what Leanne Ducovney (Sophina Brown) told them and they shouldn’t trust a woman who stole their son. She feels they cannot do that to Mitch’s daughter.
Once the airplane is in the air, Jackson shows everyone the photo of Abigail; Jamie recognizes her as a Shepherd. He explains that Abigail has created several beacons like the one in the cabin, and the more she activates the more the hybrids will spread. Jackson then shows a map of all the hybrids in the zone now that Abigail has activated beacons and tells them Abe learned the hybrids are a-sexual and able to reproduce with a single drop of blood.
He shows how rapidly the hybrids will grow with flying hybrids and if she gets a beacon into the safe area. Based on his calculations, the hybrids will destroy the world within 90 days.
Leanne has an interview explaining the youth rejuvenation program and that its not a punishment but a promise to solve sterility. Abigail is furious that Leanne would consider herself the savior of mankind.
Mitch sarcastically asks the group about his funeral and Jamie jokes the song they picked was “Who Let the Dogs Out”; it was the last time they were all together and Jackson tells him once he was gone things were never the same. Mitch doesn’t know what happened between Jamie and Jackson but he looks at her as he explains he had to get away when people learned he was the son of the man who caused world-wide sterility.
Jamie apologizes to Jackson again and wants to explain her reasons but he tells her they need to figure out what is going on with the hybrids and find Abigail. Jackson joins Mitch in doing an autopsy on one of the dead hybrids, trying to figure out how they could have caused a volcano. Jackson tells him that Abe’s studying the hybrid’s reproductive is the key to solving the world’s sterility. Mitch has a hard time admitting he needs help but they are off to Michigan to find the “sex doctor”.
In New York, there is anarchy outside Leanne’s office. She tells her people that flying hybrids are a reality and sterility isn’t magically going away; with those twin threats people will be an endangered species within 10 years. Leanne learns the board is unanimous on their decision and she will allow a full inspection by government officials; Leanne protests but is ordered to make it work or they will find someone who can.
Clementine goes to find Jamie, asking her what that was all about with Jackson. Jamie shares that Jackson went into hiding 5 years ago because her book revealed that he was the son of Robert Oz, forcing him to “vanish” after the Shepherd Hunters wanted Jackson. Jamie says she works with the Shepherds when it serves her. While they are talking, Jamie gets a message saying they have a lead on the Falcon; but only tells Clementine that everything is alright.
Abe and Dariela rejoin Jackson at the airport. He asks about Isaac and informs them he couldn’t track down another sample. Dariela says everything is complicated with Isaac and Abe promises to fill him in later. He is worried how dangerous it is for Jackson to be on this side of the barrier. Jackson says he had to do it, saying he couldn’t fight this war from the hybrid zone forever; they go to join the rest.
Dariela refers to Mitch as Spock and Abe wraps his arms around him asking how he survived the bat attack; Abe isn’t too pleased to see Logan and no one knows how to greet Jamie. Clementine apologizes for ditching them and Abe lies that Isaac is safe with his Aunt.
Clementine works on the car, explaining that working on cars gives her a sense of things. Dariela asks her how everything is with her and Mitch, saying its been a tough couple years since they saw each other. Dariela says they all do things they are not proud of but they all have regrets and their own secrets, when Clem says her regrets are behind her, Dariela insists that sometimes they catch up to people.
Abe continues with the autopsy, saying the hybrid frequency is like nothing he has ever seen. Mitch feels it could be a highly evolved form of communication. Mitch wonders if the entire scientific world imploded while he was gone? Abigail continues to watch the news regarding Leanne, she promises everyone that humanity will flourish again. Abigail is seen creating a new beacon.
Abe is able to explain how the new hybrids are able to work their muscles to move mass and cause a volcano; they are all frustrated that Abigail can call them as she wills. Suddenly an alarm goes off and the team discovers Abigail is moving the beacon to New York City. If the hybrids get into the city, the East Coast could fall in days and Jackson insists they need to go there.
In the lab, Jamie sends a response asking if there is any update on the Falcon; Mitch sees her phone and asks who the Falcon is? Jamie tells him there are 2 Shepherds she has been unable to track down, one is Mr. Duncan, who is Ghost and the other is The Falcon, who has ascended to the top realms of power.
When Jamie says a few things have changed in the past 10 years, he tells her he has noticed and wants to know what happened to her. She admits she always thought if she told people the truth, that things would change; but it didn’t stop the Shepherds and Reiden Global from killing people. She got sick of not seeing justice done and started doing it herself.
Mitch says he is trying to adjust to Super Jamie; he worries that it all seems a little dark for her and she says she didn’t have a lot to look forward to them; he asks her what about now and she kisses him. Dariela tries again to convince Abe to find another way, especially after they are all reunited and seen Clementine again. He refuses saying this may be their only chance to get Isaac back.
Abigail is ironing clothes as she talks to a man covered in blood in her bed. She imagines he finds it honorable for the band to play on while the Titanic sinks to the cold depths. She says honor is a lie he tells himself and feels he is afraid. She supposes it gave him purpose and luckily for her, he was a NYPD officer.
Mitch jokes that it was fun and asks if they can now go do it in the cockpit. Jamie says after she converted the plane to tablet she made the cockpit into a breakfast nook. She asks him for a raincheck, kissing him saying she needs to go do something first. She runs into Jackson saying they cannot go on like this; she knows she put a target on his back and his anger is warranted; he says its not about him. Abe sacrificed everything to keep him safe, including his marriage, his job and his son and he can’t repay him for that; he hopes that best-seller list was worth it for her.
Jamie tells Jackson to come with her, that they need to take a walk. She brings him to the belly of the plane where he sees Shepherd Sgt. Greg Mansdale (Jason Cermak) in one of the cages. She says this is what she has been protecting him from; she was the one that sent the Shepherds on the wild goose chase to Asia and she is the one who scrubbed his photo from every server on the planet and she is the only one keeping him on this side of the cage or worse. Jackson says she is the one who caused them to come after him in the first place.
Jamie hands him a gun and tells him to make a choice, either shoot her because he thinks she is the grand villain or shoot one of the men who tried to end the world or he can accept to leave the past in the past and move on with whatever future they have left. He hands her the gun and leaves. Mitch confirms that he knew Jamie was keeping Mansdale in the cage; Jackson says this isn’t a joke and they need to keep a close eye on her. Mitch agrees.
Dariela calls Leanne saying the deal is on and at day’s end she will have Clementine Lewis; in return Leanne promises by day’s end she will be holding her son again. Jamie’s phone goes off and the unknown person sends her a picture of Leanne saying she is the Falcon. Abigail approaches Reiden Global wearing the NYPD uniform carrying a case. She is let through without anyone questioning her.
As the plane is ready to land, Abe gives Mitch something to track the beacon. Jackson says him and Abe are going to work from the plane for a solution and once they find it, they will talk him through it. Jamie, Mitch and Logan arrive in the city, chasing the beacon signal. Mitch is impressed with Abe’s work but admits that Abe has a 10-year jump on him.
Clementine hops on her motorcycle saying the truck is only missing a minor piece telling Dariela she is just going to find it at one of the garages in the area; Dariela doesn’t want her going out on her own and offers to come with her, but Clementine refuses and races off.
Logan realizes Abigail is setting off the beacon in Reiden towers and Mitch asks if any of them have a plan for them to get passed the police. Logan leads the way with his badge and tells Jamie to be on her best behavior inside. Mitch tells Jackson and Abe they know that Abigail is going after Reiden tower and tells them to hurry up whatever they are planning.
Abe and Jackson prepare to boost their hybrid signal to match the intensity of the beacon. Jackson complains about Jamie and Abe tells him to stop using him as an excuse and Jamie was just doing what she thought was right; reminding him that no matter how messy it gets, they are all still family. Jackson asks Abe what is going on and what isn’t he telling him; Abe rushes off to go find Dariela.
Dariela tries to talk to Abe but he cuts her off saying she was right and there is no way they can do this. No matter how much they want Isaac back, they cannot betray Mitch and Clem. He says no matter what happens between them, Isaac is still their son and they will find a way to get him back together.
Mitch spots Abigail and they give chase. Logan orders a lock down, he tells Jamie not to go all “Kill Bill” on Abigail but when he turns around, Jamie and Mitch are already gone. Mitch chases her up the stair well, telling Logan where they are. Almost at the top, Abigail pulls a gun on him and calls out his name; he is confused and wants to know how she knows him.
She opens the case and activates the beacon, she informs him she is going beyond the constraints of this planet, beyond the regime of humanity and beyond the concept of life as he understands it. She is going to create a new world and bringing her hybrids with her. He scoffs that she is the evil queen in a cartoon move. She tells him to make a choice between the old dead way and the beyond; she drops the case off the side of the stairs.
Clementine gets off her bike and is attacked, a black hood is placed over her head and she is taken away. Dariela gets a call and tells them to take her to the drop. In Dariela’s hands is the fuel cell relay. Jackson tells Mitch to find electrical tape and a whole lot of lemon juice. Mitch informs them either the device he has is broken or there is a whole swarm of hybrids headed for them.
Logan orders Abigail to freeze but the flying hybrids dive through the glass protecting her; Logan shoots her several times before he dives for cover. Mitch has the beacon and finds some tape but doesn’t know what to do about lemon juice. Logan says they need to leave but Mitch tells him to be a detective and find Jamie and Abigail. Without lemon juice, Mitch says they need a new plan.
Logan shoots at the beacon with no success. Logan opens the door, attaches a drone to the beacon and programs a new location, asking Mitch what he thought about the middle of the Atlantic; Mitch says sure, let’s see if these turkeys can swim! The hybrids give chase to the beacon as Abigail realizes she is bleeding.
Jackson realizes something is wrong as the drone is losing altitude, saying they need something more powerful or it won’t make it to the ocean. Logan is asked to go with the police; they find Leanne shot to death in her office; Logan asks if they have any suspects and he confirms they do, its Jamie and she admits its not a mistake, she would do it again as Leanne is the Falcon.
Jamie is read her rights as Leanne’s phone rings and the people who have abducted Clementine are concerned that there is no answer and no response from Dariela either. They learn there is a bounty on Clementine that is quadruple the amount Dariela was paying.
THE END!
