In Boulder, Abigail (Athena Karkanis) is in the forest, camping and making a coffee; she enjoys her view of the mountain range. In the IADG barrier camp, they continue to monitor the hybrid nests and attacks world wide; as they say they can have boots on the ground within the hour in Berlin, there is a new nest sighting in Hong Kong.
Logan (Josh Salatin) informs them 9 of the 13 beacons are active; Tessa (Hilary Jardine) says it looks like they are making their way across the world, Asia to Europe to Africa, and less than 5 hours until hybrids overrun the world. Dariela (Alyssa Diaz) says at least they have a chance, they can put the beacons operating system on a dead man’s switch, confirming her friends are making their final approach right now.
Clementine (Gracie Dzienny) is holding her son, asking Mitch (Billy Burke) how he is doing but he says he didn’t just give birth, that she did a great job but can’t wait until she gets medical attention. They talk about Max, and reminds him that Max held him at one point like she is holding her wee one. Mitch says they are cute until they grow up and have their own opinions; Mitch says he was like his dad, no grief nor guilt. He wants to honor that and live in the moment, and his only goal is to keep her and the baby safe. They talk abotu9 giving the baby a name.
Meanwhile, Abigail has an alarm go off and she prepares to launch her weapon. Abe (Nonso Anozie) tells Jackson (James Wolk) after all they have been through he is just grateful to be alive and reminds Jackson they haven’t saved the world yet. They need to do the dead man’s switch and save Clem and their baby; Jackson tells them to get to their jump seats as they are preparing to land.
Abigail points her rocket launcher in the air, targets her mark and fires, she hits close to the airplane and the landing sequence isn’t completed; leaving Mitch, Clem, the baby and Sam (Clayton Chitty) worried. Mitch orders them to take care of the baby as he joins Jackson and Abe; Mitch runs to go find Jamie (Kristen Connolly as its her plane. Jamie says the blast was too strong as the plane was not able to block it.
They continue to descend without landing gear; Dariela sees something is wrong as the plane just disappeared off the radar. Jamie is able to figure it out and deploy the landing gear as they have a rough landing, right in front of Abigail. Jamie informs them they over shot the barrier and are in the hybrid zone; the plane is quickly surrounded by the hybrids.
Logan, Tessa and Dariela worry about where the plane has landed, he wants to bring in a team to the crash site but fret there is only 4:14 left on the clock. Jackson says they cannot stay there, they need to get the switch to the command center. Jamie says its impossible without the plane nor the truck, as the blast took out every circuit board. Mitch guesses they will need to walk to the barrier but its impossible as lions roar outside the plane. Sam has an idea about how to lead the hybrids away; Mitch says they should play this one by the book and Jamie says there is a CB they can use to contact IADG.
Jackson says he hates this because he feels they always lose but Abe reminds him they can’t lose sight of the end. They simply need to get the child to the barrier to end sterility; he could have another child and so can Jackson. Jamie says the baby is beautiful but refuses to hold the baby; Mitch questions her but she shuts him down and leaves. She tells Mitch they are all going to die, is he seriously asking her why she won’t hold a baby.
Sam and Clem talk about naming the baby and are interrupted by a noise on the CB radio; she is able to reach the IADG. Logan orders them not to leave the plane and have found where they are, sending out a team to get them; Dariela goes with them as Logan tells her to watch her back.
Logan tells them their priority is the baby and the switch; they are under attack from the razorbacks and suddenly they lose all connection as Logan calls out for both Dariela and Tessa for a status report.
Mitch and Jackson work with the radio, Logan tells them the team is down; Abe demands to know about Dariela and Tessa and Logan informs them there is no response from anybody. Logan says they need to send out another team, at 2:25 hours, they tell him of the backup plan with warships. Logan asks if he is out of his mind talking about tomahawk missiles at occupied cities; he says his friends have 2 hours and 20 minutes to bring the switch and the baby.
The team is lying all over the ground, most dead, when Tessa wakes up and Dariela says they have to move and the radio is out. Dariela is able to reach Logan and says they need to get moving or get torn apart; he says there is one working vehicle north of them and they need to get to the plane. He informs Jackson that Tessa and Dariela are alive and on their way; Sam makes his suggestion again as Logan informs them of IADG’s backup plan. Jackson, Mitch and Sam decide to work together and Mitch says if this works he might consider him calling Mitch “dad”.
Everyone’s top priority is the baby; Mitch meets Jamie, who is drinking some alcohol, she says that it would be a shame to waste the good stuff. Mitch brings up the baby again, feeling she is making it a big deal. She says its because he is right, she is the darkness, thinking she was doing the right thing but somewhere along the way she was unable to tell the difference between right and wrong, and the baby is innocent therefore she shouldn’t be anywhere near it.
Dariela and Tessa arrive at the plane; Abe is weak but brightens up when he hears and sees Dariela. He says she looks beautiful while he looks horrible; Tessa and Jackson are sharing a private moment when Clem arrives and introduces Tessa to the baby. She says she is better now that they are there. Tessa thoroughly enjoys holding the baby, and Jackson looks fondly at them.
Sam tells Jackson his father taught him a lot about the hybrids from his father. He had a plan for the hybrids and what he was going to do to Jackson once he found him; he did not plan for Clem and says holding his son changes things that he didn’t expect and isn’t sure he can explain it. They are ready and Sam says he need to go say his goodbyes; Jackson gives Mitch the dead man’s switch; he is sarcastic about the name.
Jackson says he is right, they use this to stop the beacons and then they need to find Abigail. Jackson tells him to worry about his family and let him worry about his; that he knows what Abigail is and knows what needs to be done. Sam contacts Abigail, informing her they are on their way; Jackson comes in and Sam says he is ready.
Sam and Jackson are far enough from the plane and begin their job to get the hybrids away from the plane; Logan says the hybrids are on the move and to get moving. IADG begins to give his orders and Logan shuts him off saying they are on their way; he refuses saying he isn’t taking any chances.
Mitch tells Jamie that Logan gave the “all clear” and asks if she is ready to say bye to the plane. Mitch understands why Jamie kept him as Duncan and says she didn’t need to because he would have killed her as himself for keeping her away from everyone and everything for 10 years. He says she doesn’t have the monopoly for darkness and she asks how they find their way back to the light? Everyone else arrives and Abe says they need to finish this.
The group walk as they realize Sam’s invention must be working; Abe falls with air stuck in his chest cavity; Clem hands Jamie the baby as Mitch punctures his chest; Abe takes a few deep breaths as Clem realizes that the baby stopped crying acknowledging that the baby likes her; Mitch and Jamie exchange looks.
Jackson and Sam throw the concoction down the hill to keep the hybrids away from Clem and the baby; Sam apologizes to Jackson as Abigail raises her gun at her brother. Sam says its time for him to pay for what he did to Sam’s family; Jackson says Abigail is lying to him. He tells Jackson he will spend the rest of his life, rotting in a cell as he takes Clem and the baby far away from all of them.
Jackson pulls out his knife and physically fights with Sam; Abigail is thoroughly enjoying their fight. Jackson and Abigail point guns at each other, when Sam refuses to get out of the way, Jackson shoots him in the leg and he ends up at the bottom of the hill as the hybrids approach.
Abigail says all roads have led to here; Jackson shoots her in the legs and he orders her to stop talking. She tells him its too late, that he doesn’t understand, there is nothing left to fight for, as they speak her beacons are activating around the world. She says its too late for the human species, as Logan anxiously awaits for the dead man’s switch. She says the true delivery is right here, just as she watched her father be taken from her, she watched his son be taken from him again.
Abigail informs him that Conor didn’t die all those years ago. She pulls out the blanket his wife knit for his son, he was wrapped in it that night. He asks her what the hell she is talking about. She says the boy he just sent tumbling down the cliff, his name isn’t Sam – its CONOR, your son!
Jackson skids down the hillside to Sam’s side as the rest of the group- arrives at the IADG barrier center; Clem, the baby and Abe receive medical attention. Jackson angrily shoots at the hybrids, desperate to save Sam. He lifts Sam over his shoulders with 50 minutes to go. Mitch and Jamie hand over the switch as Jackson struggles to carry Sam.
