Tonight on NBC their obstacle course competition American Ninja Warrior returns with an all-new Monday, July 23, 2018, episode and we have your American Ninja Warrior recap below! On tonight’s “Dallas City Finals,” season 10 episode 8 as per the NBC synopsis, “In the Dallas City Finals, the top 30 qualifying ninjas face an even tougher obstacle course that includes the “Fallout” and “Spider Trap” obstacles. Ninjas include Daniel Gil, Barclay Stockett, Mathis “The Kid” Owhadi, Brent Steffensen and Abel Gonzalez.”

The ninjas were back in Dallas for the City Finals on tonight’s all-new episode of “American Ninja Warrior”.
The obstacle course tonight was longer as well as more difficult. The obstacles were the Archer Steps, the Catch & Release, the Bouncing Spider, the Broken Bridge, the Crank It Up, and the Warped Wall completed the first half of the course. As for the second half, of course, it was the Salmon Ladder followed by the Nail Clipper, the Fallout, and the Spider Trap. But the first person to run this new course was Josh Norton. He was a janitor that worked at the Iron Sports gym and so he got to learn amongst some of the best ninjas before he made it to the City Qualifiers as a walk-on. He, unfortunately, hadn’t been able to complete his run that time because he fell on Crank It Up and so right from the start he had wanted to get that particular obstacle out of the way.
Josh had had great timing at the start of his run. He had demolished each obstacle quickly before he moved onto the next one, however, he was able to move to pass Crank It Up and so he only ran into problems on the Nail Clipper. The Nail Clipper was something that each ninja had to use the tips of the fingers to hold onto because it was literally just a ledge. Josh had had a hard time just figuring out how to hold onto it and he had slow down. He gave himself time to think about his next move and well that hadn’t helped him because his grip eventually slipped. It had been a sad way for this newbie to end his run and he would have to wait until the very end to see if he could make it to the Nationals based on how far he had gotten.
The next ninja to make his run tonight had been Abel Gonzalez. The veteran had no trouble with the first half of the course and he too had only slowed down for the Nail Clipper. He had taken his time with his movements and it benefitted him because he was the first person to move past the Nail Clipper. Abel was also the first person to come across a Mission Impossible inspired obstacle and it seems that had been enough to wipe him out. He fell on the Fallout and will have to use his timing as well as how far he made it see if he’ll go on to Nationals. The next ninja to make their run was
Tremayne Dortch. He had gone after every obstacle with his many muscles and that strategy had worked until he came across the Salmon Ladder.
According to the commentators, Tremayne had gone after the Salmon Ladder too aggressively and that’s what cost him everything. He fell on the obstacle and had still given a little prayer at the end despite how his run ended. The next ninja to make their run tonight was Kat Ratcliff. She was an army veteran and police officer. Kat also fell during the Qualifiers on the Bouncing Spider and so it was a surprise for many when she went on to fall on that same obstacle this time around. It was an abrupt ending to her story this year yet odds are she won’t be progressing to the Nationals. Anyways the next ninja of the night was Jeremiah Morgan. He was fighting for his life last year because he had accidentally been electrocuted last year when he had been trying to take down the awning.
The doctors had even put Jeremiah in a medically induced coma afterward because they weren’t sure he was going to make it and so the fact that he did survive much less was able to run an obstacle course was huge for his family. They were all on the sidelines cheering him when he made his run during the Qualifiers and they were back again for the City Finals. His dad was a ninja himself and so he coached Jeremiah through the run. Jeremiah had no problem with the beginning of the course and he was able to make it pass the Nail Clippers, so the true challenge was Fallout. He had to jump to each piece of the obstacle and hold on with just his fingers. And surprisingly Jeremiah hadn’t had a problem with the obstacle.
He flew through Fallout and Jeremiah went on to become the first person to hit the buzzer though that one glorious moment became hard to replicate. The next ninja was Brittany Hanks and everyone thought her knee would be the problem because she recently got surgery on it. Her knee was actually still in a brace tonight and it could have been enough to end her run before it truly began only the knee hadn’t been her problem. It hadn’t stopped her in moving past the Bouncing Spider which required she use her knees to help hold onto a wall and so the real problem turned out to be footwork. Brittany had made it to the Broken Bridge when she suddenly lost her footing and fell into the water.
Thankfully, the next ninja had been Matthis “the Kid” Owhadi. He was nineteen newbie who’s been training for nearly a decade for American Ninja Warrior and so he made quite an impact during the Qualifiers when he breezed through the obstacle like they weren’t the least difficult. He also made history when he became the youngest person to ever hit a buzzer and so everyone had wanted to see he could recreate that tonight. The Kid had raced through the first half of the course and was able to self-correct on the Salmon Ladder. The first challenge the Kid face was Fallout. The obstacle could twist and turn on a ninja, so that’s what it did to Owhadi. He turned all the way around when he was again able to self-correct. And so he went on to become the second finisher of the night when he later/again hit a buzzer.
The ninja that followed the Kid had been Josh Salinas. He too had made it through the first half fairly easy and he surprisingly hadn’t had a problem with the second half. He sailed through some of this season’s toughest obstacles like they were nothing and went on to become the third person to hit that buzzer. The ninja after him had been Quest O’Neal. She was a crowd favorite and had made it to the fifth obstacle during the Qualifiers but she had much harder time with the Bouncing Spider than she did last time and so, unfortunately, she fell much too early for anyone’s liking. It seems the problem had been how she landed on the bag. She had landed low the first time which was how she was able to just easily come off of it and this time she had landed higher on the bag which made it difficult because her legs weren’t long enough to compel her to the platform.
The next ninja tonight had been Matthew Day. He was a rookie that had taken everyone by surprise during Qualifiers and he did so again by sailing through the course. He went through the course with such a speed that he hit the buzzer with the fastest time tonight however the ninjas that followed Matthew Day would run across the same problem. They would all fall on the Nail Clipper. Erik Brown had such a great run until he fell on the Nail Clipper then everyone had been hopeful about Barclay Stockett because they wanted this to be her year but she also fell on the Nail Clipper and so did both Mike Murray and Karsten Williams. It had looked like no one else would be able to take on to take on the Nail Clipper until eventually, it was Daniel Gil’s turn to run the course
Daniel Gil was the first person to beat the Mega Warped Wall during the City Qualifiers and he only did it just to see if he could. He genuinely hadn’t thought he would make it and so when he did it had come as a surprise even to him. If Daniel could do that without trying, everyone couldn’t wait to see what would happen if he put his everything into the run tonight. Daniel started out perhaps the strongest of the night because he raced through the first five obstacles in less than a minute and a half. He then went on to the second half of the course by easily taking on the first couple of obstacles and while he may have spun on Fallout, he hadn’t let that stop him from being able to dismount on the platform. And with that out of the way, Daniel ended up racing through the last obstacle and by doing so he finished with the fastest time of the night by beating out the previous with forty seconds to spare.
