Blue Bloods begins tonight with Officers Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray) talk about how she went on a couple of dates and the guy ended up disappearing on her. They quickly take a call for a robbery at a deli, when they get there Eddie needs to escort Billy outside who is reading the Miranda rights to the thief. She reminds him, that he is a good citizen for trying to help but he is to call 9-1-1 when someone is breaking the law. It is clear that Bill is developmentally disabled. Jamie reminds him not to hold someone next time because he could get hurt and will put them out of a job.
Police Commissioner, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is talking to explorers about becoming police officers. He admits that he misses being a cop every day and the bad guys, saying there isn’t a better feeling than slapping the cuffs on a bad guy and getting him off the street. Sid Gormley (Robert Clohessy) says they have taken enough of the Commissioner’s time but Frank asks if any of them want to be cops. None of them raise their hands, but one girl raises her hand, saying she wants to be the first black female PC; he smiles, but it quickly fades when she says it’s not because she likes cops, its because she wants to change the system. Privately, he gives her his card and says he would like to speak to her more about this.
Nicky Reagan- Boyle (Sami Gayle) comes to see her grandfather, admitting she wants to become a cop and Frank is quite proud to hear that she has signed up to take the exam on Monday. She doesn’t think her mom will be happy to hear about it.
Dt. Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) is arguing with his sister Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) about remanding someone. Erin tells Anthony Abetemarco (Steve Schirripa) he needs to speak to Rosalie Morales (Vanessa Aspillaga) so she is prepared for the court regarding the Sanchez murder case. Erin is busy and sends Anthony to do it alone. Anthony and Danny argue about how they used to work together but now they are on opposing sides.
Anthony learns Rosalie is at a massage parlor and goes inside when he hears arguing, when he opens the door, he is shot in the chest, but he is able to shoot the guy in the leg before he passes out.
Erin rushes into the hospital, learns that Anthony is being prepped for surgery. Danny tells her that the bullet didn’t hit any major arteries but it did do some muscle damage. She feels it is her fault and she should have been with him. Danny says Anthony was unconscious when he came in, but regardless of their differences, Anthony is still a cop and he will be the detective investigating.
Dt. Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) and Danny arrive at the massage parlor and are stopped by Christopher Mancuso (Frank Licari) who is from the department of investigation, saying he is looking into the shooting. He says with corruption matters, he takes the lead; Danny says they don’t get their jollies getting dirt on good cops.
Back at the hospital, Vivian Abetemarco (Diana Bologna) arrives with Sophia to see how her dad, Anthony is doing. Vivian blames Erin for putting Anthony in harm’s way, saying he could never say “no” to her.
Danny and Baez come to see Rosalie Morales, who says she was never at the massage parlor and is confused that the detective that came to interview her went there instead. Her theory is Anthony took a “detour” there.
Erin goes to see her dad at the Commissioner’s office, telling him that she doesn’t want Nicky to take the police exam. She says she is proud to come from a cop family but Nicky is not a cop. Frank questions her on whether Nicky gets to decide on what she wants to become.
Jamie questions Eddie on why her boyfriend bolted. She admits this guy thought it was cool that she was a cop and kick ass and she is offended that Jamie keeps thinking it is something she did that drove him away. Once again, they are called to an unauthorized male, white operating an NYPD vehicle. Suddenly, Bill is sitting inside a police vehicle surrounded by police with their guns drawn; Jamie pleads with the officers to lower their weapons but Billy reads him his rights and he approaches the vehicle and tells them they have a situation. Billy explains that he heard there was 1081, that an officer needed assistance and Jamie says he is the officer who needs the assistance and Billy agrees to help. Jamie gets him out of the car, and Billy lets him show how to cuff people as Billy tells Jamie he is a good cop.
After the situation is under control, back at the precinct, Jamie is reprimanded by his boss Hollis after he disobeyed a direct order. Hollis says he feels since he is a Reagan he can disobey a direct order and Jamie calls him a jackass. Eddie jumps in between, saying they are both heated and should cool down, but Hollis asks Jamie if he needs his girlfriend to stick up for him; then she calls him a jackass. Hollis suspends them both for insubordination, saying they need to turn on their shield, their guns, and their ID badges.
Danny comes to see Anthony to see if he is up to answering some questions. Anthony asks if he died and woke up in hell; Danny says he knows Anthony thinks he is a prick and Danny knows he is an ass, but that is personal and this is business. Anthony says he tried Morales’ apartment and a neighbor said go to the massage parlor, when he went up the stairs, two guys were arguing, he was pulling out his gun when he was shot and he was sure he shot the perp in the leg, but it wasn’t too much damage because he was still able to run out of there. Anthony is pissed that Danny would think he was at the massage parlor, getting a “happy ending”, while he was on duty and orders him to get out.
Sid and Garrett Moore (Gregory Jbara) ask Frank if he has any doubts about Nicky taking the police exam. He thinks its an honor and a calling but also brings up how he doesn’t like the curriculum for the explorers, especially saying that police work is the same as every other civil service job. He wants it to have the heart that would want them to become cops. Garrett wonders how to safely replicate the thrills of the streets to just kids. Frank says the best cops telling their best stories.
Nicky arrives, thinking Frank is going to discourage her from taking the test. Frank says he has never denied her anything without hearing her out first. He admits he asked her up there to help her study, and says her mom is being her mom and should worry but should also give her reasons to do the test if that is what she wants. Frank watches proudly as Nicky studies the picture as he tests her.
Danny and Baez find a gunshot victim was at St. Irene’s by the name of Dominic Carbone (Victor Almanzar). They find him on the roof, feeding his pigeons, he says he shot himself in the leg while he was cleaning his gun. He swears he didn’t shoot a cop, and asks if he can release his birds before they arrest him. Baez cuffs him and he admits he didn’t mean to shoot the cop, the owner pulled a gun, he is an artist and not a bad guy.
He says Victor Ruiz gave the orders, he runs the Double Trees and the Warriors are selling drugs out of the massage parlor and it is Trae territory. Baez shows him a photo of Rosalie Morales and he says she is a drug courier. He smiles as Danny is shocked, saying no one would suspect a granny.
During family dinner, they take turns about the biggest charge you get on the job. Erin gets angrier as everyone says their piece. She hates that they sugarcoat it, asking about the jumpers, crack addicts, and child abusers. Nicky gets mad saying that Erin’s job takes a toll too; Nicky says she is not going blindly into the family business but Erin says there is plenty of ways of helping people without putting herself in harm’s way.
Erin continues saying all of these gangsters, rapists, and murderers that they get a charge for taking down, she prosecutes them. She puts them away, and there isn’t one of them she gladly wouldn’t see walk if it meant that one of them would still be sitting at this table instead of lying somewhere in a morgue.
In the kitchen, Frank reminds Erin that the dinner is about the connection, not necessarily the food. They talk about when Joe died and how Jamie was joining the department. Frank confronts her about how she supported Jamie and isn’t supporting Nicky. Erin admits that she never wanted to join the police department and she was the one who begged her mother to convince him to not let her take it. Erin wishes that Frank would give her a little of that support instead of standing behind Nicky.
Baez and Danny attempt to interrogate Rosalie Morales, who stands firm acting like a hardcore granny. She says their witness is probably the one who shot at their cop and walks out the door.
Erin comes to see Anthony at the hospital, she is glad he is okay. He tells her the corruption investigation is killing him, but he tells her that he hopes that Sophie will be just like her when she grows up, not because she is a “hottie” but because she is smart, knows what she wants and knows how to go after it. She is a good mom and taught Nicky to be the same way.
Baez and Danny talk about Rosalie, thinking at 60, she should know better as they follow her car where she turns into a warehouse. The NYPD team breaks in with a search warrant, shots are fired as an officer is already down, Danny yells to get him out of there as they continue further inside. Danny sees a red dot on Baez, shots the gunman and demands to know where the other shooter is, he tells them and when Danny goes around the corner he gives chase and jumps on the suspect, removes the hood and says “Granny!” and “you should have taken that deal, Honey!” as Baez says, “at your age?”
Jamie and Eddie meet at a restaurant and reveal that they both have to meet at 1PP in the morning. They don’t think they can get in any more trouble, as they have both been suspended for a week. She orders fortune cookies right away. She reveals she got blown off because she speaks about him too much and made her boyfriend feel inferior.
Eddie breaks open her cookie and reads “the greatest risk is not taking one” and Jamie says “between the sheets”. Eddie looks confused and Jamie says you’re always supposed to add that at the end of the fortune for fun. Jamie says his fortune is “your partner will make you very happy…between the sheets”. He says its like a wish and if he eats the cookie, it makes it real. She says that is not how it works.
Jamie and Eddie talk to the explorers, about their suspension and how they would do it again. Sid says that is it for today but promise they will hear from Reagan and Janko again. Sid asks the kids now that they have heard from the real deal, how many of them are thinking of becoming cops and several of them raise their hands. Sid tells Jamie and Eddie they should take the show on the road as this is the best response they have ever gotten.
Danny comes to see Anthony at the hospital before he is released, Anthony asks Sophia to leave the room but Danny asks her to stay while he tells Anthony that the man who shot him was from a really bad drug gang and because her dad was so brave they were able to catch every single one of those drug guys. The corruption investigation is closed and Anthony is getting a commendation from the DA. Sophia is so proud.
Anthony asks him why he wanted the case, Danny says he is still a Brother in Blue. Anthony thanks him and hopes they can bury the hatchet, Danny says as long as he stops poaching his cases and Anthony says that won’t happen as that is his job than Danny says “no.” He waves to little Sophia but Anthony tells her not to wave to Danny.
Nicky comes out from taking her exam and Frank is outside to meet her; she thanks him for always being there for her. Erin arrives asking how it went. Nicky says it was okay but Erin questions that. Nicky says she nailed it. Erin says that gives them bragging rights. Frank says she didn’t take the test just to see how she stacked up. Nicky turns to her mother and tells her that whatever she ends up doing she respects the family business and hopes they know that. Erin says whatever she ends up doing, she respects that and hopes she knows that. They all go to lunch, with lights and sirens, courtesy of Frank.
END!!
