Charmed begins tonight with Maggie Vera (Sarah Jeffery) attempting to sneak out of the house wearing her older sister, Mel Vera’s (Melonie Diaz) boots for a themed party. They are interrupted when they hear their mom, Marisol (Valerie Cruz) having a rather disturbing phone call. She tells her daughters that she is fine and lucky to be the mother of two special, young woman; reminding them that even though they are special in their own ways, they are better together and their differences are their strengths and nothing is stronger than their sisterhood and they need to nurture that.
They dismiss it as their mom being her usual sentimental self and leave their separate ways. Maggie’s on again/off again boyfriend, Brian (Charlie Gillespie) offers to give her a ride, but she tells him that they are apart because she wanted space.
At home, Marisol opens the window as a strange mist creeps around the house and a crow flies in. Suddenly, both Mel and Maggie get a message from their mom, “Girls. Come home. Right now. Both of you.” Mel tells her girlfriend, Detective Nico Hamada (Ellen Tamaki) she needs to go. Meanwhile, at the house, Marisol lights some candles and chants as crows fly around her, she finally screams that she has three; the crows fly away.
Mel finds Maggie at the pledge party and drags her home from the frat party, finding it ice cold inside the house and more birds fly out. They search the house, finding the shattered window in the attic and their dead mother on the ground outside.
Macy Vaughn (Madeleine Mantock) worries about leaning on Galvin Burdette (Ser’Darius Blain) too much since she moved to town and he is the only one she knows in town. They walk past the Vera house, she feels connected to it but Galvin thinks it’s from the news. As she is reading about it on her laptop, Professor Alastair Caine (Craig Parker) startles her, saying he has been cleared of harassment and looks forward to working with her.
Mel is stopped by Harry Greenwood (Rupert Evans), who doesn’t like him at all. He says this isn’t about her article, but him checking on how she is doing. She walks away saying she’d feel better once this conversation is over. She continues to put up posters that Prof. Caine should not be back teaching as he is a sexual predator, and when a student says he was exonerated and this all started because of her mother’s “witch hunt”; Mel punches him, all of which Harry witnesses.
Nico and Dt. Bailey (Brendon Zub) confront Mel for hitting Cam Russo (Ben Beauchemin). Mel defends her actions, saying its weird that the student who accused Caine mysteriously overdoses and now her mother is dead. After the police leave, Maggie confronts Mel on her actions and says she has moved into the Kappa house and accuses her of being obsessed with their mom’s death. A knock at the door interrupts them and it is Macy Vaughn, who says she believes she is their sister, showing a photo of Marisol holding her as a baby; lightning flashes and the power goes out.
Mel demands to know why she is there, suspicious that she wants something; both storm off, leaving Maggie standing alone. Galvin is curious to know her motives too and encourages her to try again. She refuses to go again, but when her anger gets the best of her, Macy’s telekinesis happens and she throws a beer bottle across the bar.
Maggie gets a tour of the Kappa house from Lucy (Natalie Hall), who tells Maggie she is definitely a “shoe in”. Maggie is in the middle of meeting the sisters when her telepathy kicks in and she leaves the party, thinking its a prank; every time she touches someone.
Mel meets with Nico, who is worried that Mel is unraveling; apparently, Nico dumped her after her mother died. Mel begins to freak out when she cannot understand that time is freezing on her. She tells Nico that she was right, that she is not okay. Once outside, she is taken. The next moment all three sisters are tied up in the attic of their house reveals they are okay and informs them they are witches who are destined to save the world from impending doom.
Harry unbinds them, then shouts at them to listen. He tells Macy that she has the power of telekinesis, but she feels there has to be a scientific explanation. Mel knows she can freeze time as Harry says that is the common power for control freaks. Macy tries to hit him with a lamp, which impresses him saying she has her power under control because she has such a high IQ. Maggie realizes she really was reading minds. Harry says its due to her sensitivity or desperate insecurity but he will help her understand it all.
He reveals he is what they call a “white lighter” and their mother was a very powerful witch who bonds them as babies, but was in the process of unbinding their powers the night she was murdered. They don’t know who murdered her yet and he presents them with the Book of Shadows; there are two signs that have happened and Marisol is the reason Macy is there. He tells them to keep the BOS save and have 48 hours to decide, and it must be unanimous. He assures them the underworld doesn’t know their powers have been awakened so they are safe for now.
The sisters bicker, but Mel says this totally makes sense, while Macy feels there is a scientific reason for all of this while Maggie gets a text for her to go back to the Kappa house. Brian sends Maggie saying he is missing her as a friend, saying to meet him in the woods. Mel watches the Professor being reinstated again telling the media this sexual harassment suit was a “witch hunt”.
Nico comes to see Mel, who says she is okay; and is enjoying that she can control time. She feels better and they seem to have made up. Maggie goes to the woods to meet with Brian but ends up finding a dog that she thinks is lost. Suddenly it shifts into an evil being, she runs, screaming.
Maggie runs in the house looking for Mel, shouting a demon dog is trying to eat her extensions. Mel is shushing her, but suddenly she sees Nico and they both say its a pledge thing. Macy comes over and they test the specimen from Maggie’s face. Mel wants to hunt the demon dog down, but before they can continue, Harry appears and heals her face; revealing he is a healer too. He wants to know why they didn’t contact him and the bad news is, someone in the underworld knows they have their powers.
He says a demon dog comes with a possessed human and that is who they need to find. Maggie says Lucy knew where she was going. Maggie is concerned about ruining rush because she wants a life after this feeling they are the only ones who don’t blame her for their mother’s death. She runs out of the house, and is taken from the front porch; the hood is removed and it’s revealed she is welcome to Kappa and they have a surprise for her upstairs. She manages to text her sisters that Lucy kidnapped her.
Mel finds Lucy and throws baking soda on her, yelling “be gone demon” and Lucy is as shocked as Mel when nothing happens. Brian brings Maggie to a private room, asking her for one last kiss, when she agrees and touches him she realizes he is the one possessed. She kicks him and credits her pilates. She continues to fight him, until Macy comes into the room and throws baking soda on him, the demon comes out of him after he shakes for a while. Brian comes to, asking her what happened and Maggie kisses him.
The sisters walk home as Mel pouts that she missed out on the action. Mel reveals she can freeze time when she isn’t angry. Macy and Maggie laugh that her powers are judging her. Mel doesn’t blame Maggie, she blames herself because she knew something was wrong that night but wanted to go out that night. Macy feels this is good because they are so much better together. Maggie smiles with tears in her eyes, saying their mom always said that. They bring Macy home so she can see how Marisol was as a mother.
Macy shares that she was so sure their mother contacted her on her 9th birthday through a ouija board. Maggie feels bad for her, as she was lonely growing up. They reveal that they cry all the time around there. Mel is leaning towards yes and this was clearly their mom’s dying wish, but Maggie wants them to go with whatever is cool. Macy stays awake for a while, watching her sisters sleep as she keeps thinking about Harry’s words.
The following morning, she tells Maggie her theory that the demon they killed can’t be the one who killed their mother; she’s worried that Mel is at the rally to protest the Professor’s reinstatement. At the rally, Mel gets a bad feeling and turns around to see Cam staring at her. She walks into the school as she has stopped time, the air is very cold, but when she walks into the professor did not freeze like everyone else.
He calls out her name, Melonie Vera, saying they meet at last. He is a demon who feeds off of strong women. Cam tries to stop Macy and Maggie from going in there but when he sees the Prof he asks if he is wearing a costume, but he mocks him and kills him with an icicle. As He tries to throw ice at the sisters, Mel is able to hold it off, but not for long.
They call for Harry who tells them they either have to use the power of three or it won’t work; they agree. The Professor blinds them with fog and Harry tells Macy to use her power to draw the sisters together, and they do the spell and take out he professor; they tell him this is for killing their mother. He calls them stupid girls for thinking he did it. He informs them, “Now it has begun.” as he takes his last breath. Harry tells them it sometimes takes a minute before the demon disappears and the sisters feel they should let Cam keep his memory of what happened as it is a he said, she said situation and now he knows not to mess with them.
Macy moves in the house with them, as they are sisters. Mel finds the ouija board and they try it out to see if it works, right away trying to contact their mother, asking if she is there. It immediately responds by saying, “Don’t Trust Harry!” He comes out of the corner and says, “I am right here.”
The End!
