Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers has some news to report about an incoming Days actress. Linsey Godfrey, who formerly portrayed Caroline Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful and will be appearing in the role of Sarah Horton on Days of Our Lives, recently spoke out on the topic of sexual assault on Twitter.
In recent days, women have been sharing their experiences of sexual assault on Twitter with the hash tag #WhyIDidntReport and an account of why they did not report their assaults at the time they occurred. Celebrities such as Ashley Judd and Alyssa Milano have drawn attention to the #WhyIDidntReport movement and this has inspired others to share their experiences.
Linsey disclosed her own experience: “I didn’t report because he was my step dad & I didn’t think anyone would believe me. I didn’t report because I didn’t want to tear my family apart. Then I didn’t report because I was 15 and he was an older boy, I said ‘no’ he was wealthy and I was not. I was scared so I said nothing.”
In a follow-up tweet, Linsey continued: “Girls and women don’t report because of so many reasons, victim shaming is a huge reason. ‘Boys will be boys’ isn’t good enough. I never said anything because I didn’t want someone to blame me for something that happened to me, something that was taken from me.”
Linsey received an outpouring of support on Twitter, prompting a final thank you tweet: “Thank you to everyone for supporting me and also being so brave to share your stories of #WhyIDidntReport. I love you all and I believe you!”
