Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that things are going to get tense between Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). Kayla secretly secured the bionic eye technology from Stefan (Tyler Christopher) in order to restore Steve’s eyesight. Steve would have refused the eye had he known it came courtesy of Stefan.
Kayla’s been keeping the origins of the eye technology from Steve, and she’s been shouldering a lot of guilt about it. She had to dig up dirt on Kate (Lauren Koslow) for Stefan in exchange for the technology, and she’s not proud of that. And knowing Kayla, the guilt is not going to get any easier to deal with over time.
Days spoilers indicate that the guilt will get so unbearable that Kayla will have a heart-to-heart with Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) about what she’s going through. Kayla probably won’t spill all the beans about what she’s done to Jennifer, but she’ll probably let it be known that she’s keeping something important from Steve and feels horrible about it.
Unbeknownst to Kayla, her conversation with Jen will be at least partially overheard by Steve. Steve will likely be shocked that his sweetness has been lying to him, and he’ll put two and two together and realize that this is why Kayla has been acting preoccupied lately.
A dishonest Kayla is something that Steve really hasn’t had to deal with before, and he won’t know how to handle the situation. Days spoilers say that he’ll seek advice from John (Drake Hogestyn), who will advise him to confront Kayla about what she’s keeping from him.
Once he does confront Kayla, and once Kayla comes clean, he’ll likely be furious with her for going against his wishes and dealing with Stefan to get the eye technology. He’ll feel beholden to Stefan for his eyesight, which is the one thing that he wanted to avoid at all costs.
Steve and Kayla have a strong bond, but Kayla’s decision to go behind Steve’s back and lie to him about where the eye technology came from may cause serious problems in their relationship.
