General Hospital spoilers tease that Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) time of freedom as a fugitive from justice may soon come to an end. Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) has been closing in on her whereabouts thanks to her daughter Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thibaud) cooperation.
Even though Liesl didn’t stay on the phone long enough with Britt for her call to be traced exactly, Anna recognized enough of the background noises to pin her down to Havana, Cuba. Apparently Anna is quite familiar with Havana.
General Hospital fans recall that when Liesl first took off on her run for freedom, it happened to coincide with someone else’s run that she apparently thought would lead to freedom…. until she went into labor at an extremely inappropriate time and place.
That was Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) who was escaping the car that she left Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) in after it crashed, assuming it would blow up with him in it! Liesl wound up delivering Jonah Corinthos in the middle of the woods, begrudgingly, but telling Nelle to “spread those scrawny legs.”
GH bad girls Nelle and Liesl then parted ways, with Nelle never revealing who helped her give birth, and Liesl never revealing she’d helped a pregnant woman in labor. Nelle then went on to meet a bereaved and grieving Brad Cooper, (Parry Shen) who had just lost his and Lucas Jones’ (Ryan Carnes) newborn newly adopted son, Wiley Cooper-Jones to crib death – the rest is General Hospital history.
General Hospital spoilers tease that Nelle may naively think that Liesl would continue to protect her and keep the secret of Jonah’s live birth if either one or both of them ever returned to Port Charles. Of course GH fans know better – Nelle is wrong to assume that Dr. Obrecht is someone she could leverage or blackmail into keeping her live birth of Jonah a secret.
Not so fast, you ‘lying sneak’ – as Dr. O not so lovingly referred to Nelle that night when the desperate new mother poured out her tale of woe – which Lies didn’t readily believe anyway. When Dr. Obrecht comes back to Port Charles, even if in custody, you can bet that she’ll be up-to-date on most of the important local happenings.
Dr. O probably knows all about the sad tale of Jonah Corinthos’ stillbirth, and knows he didn’t die because she delivered him alive herself – in any case she’ll learn the truth quickly enough.
Liesl owes no allegiance to Nelle, nor does she have any fear of the imprisoned scammer. She’ll spill the beans about Nelle’s lies in a heartbeat for a plea bargain! Dr. O may not know about the baby swap, but that won’t matter… the Quartermaine, Spencer and Corinthos families will and that will be enough once they learn nasty Nelle delivered a healthy baby Jonah!
