General Hospital spoilers reveal that Drew Cain (Billy Miller) is becoming more and more compassionate and concerned about his former little buddy Franco (Roger Howarth). It was obvious in the episode of Wednesday, March 14 that he was very concerned about Franco having crumpled into a little ball of fear and crying “go away, go away, go away” after Jim Harvey’s (Greg Evigan) emotional abuse of him.
Franco appeared to be having a post traumatic memory surfacing from childhood years. Drew may have had training about PTSD as a Navy Seal that instinctively helped him recognize what was going on at the time in Franco, but his putting his hand on Franco’s shoulder didn’t come from that training. Drew’s childhood memories and feelings for “Bobby” are very close to the surface in him and ready to come into his conscious mind any minute!
For the past few days, Drew and Franco have been in a fearful, trapped situation much like what appears to have happened to them frequently as little boys living with their “mother” Betsy Frank (Deborah Strang); not only together in a basement, but the situation has been caused by the same person, Jim Harvey!
This is an ideal situation for not so ideal subconscious memories from young childhood to come to the surface in both men. But it is Franco who has had more memories than Drew has so far, both consciously and also subconscious ones that have been surfacing.
Most people have a general knowledge of “PTSD” (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and what it is due to Hollywood making much use of it for dramatic plots in movie and television scripts involving Vietnam vets and survivors of childhood abuse.
In such scripts, vets usually have flashbacks which cause them to behave in certain ways, and childhood abuse survivors to behave in other ways. Franco has likely repressed (pushed down into his subconscious) his memories as a defense mechanism, whereas Drew’s were replaced with his twin brother Jason’s (Steve Burton).
General Hospital spoilers tease that not only Drew’s memories of his early childhood with Franco as little “Andy and Bobby” are coming to the surface, but his feelings as well, including those feelings of brotherly little boy type love. It is quite likely that the two little boys not only had family love for each other, but also were both very protective of each other… especially when it came to big bad Jim Harvey!
And now, here they are again, trapped in a basement together, only this time instead of using it to hide from Jim, they were put there on purpose, and in mortal danger! What those two precious little ones endured together as small children quite likely contributed to Franco being an extremely damaged self-hating individual as a man, and Drew growing up to be a macho man and a hero Navy Seal.
Will Drew’s memories all come back starting with these childhood memories? Keep tuning into GH and reading General Hospital spoilers!!!
