General Hospital spoilers tease that Michael’s new love interest could have a shocking connection to a fan favorite no longer on GH. General Hospital has had storylines that worked well but were terminated for reasons unknown to fans. This may have been the case with the nurse Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo) and Michael Quartermaine (Chad Duell) love story.
Fans were devastated when General Hospital writers killed off Sabrina in such a horribly violent way, strangled to death by Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi) in the fall of 2016. TPTB might have abruptly killed the character off because of her two long maternity leave of absences in a short period of time. This made scheduling and shooting critical storylines involving her difficult to plan. Castillo was with the show for 4 years and now has 2 gorgeous babies.
General Hospital viewers know that when Sabrina was a small child her mother, Gabriella, who was also a nurse died – so her father sent her away to live with cousins. He was too old and distraught to raise her alone and there was family to grow up with in Puerto Rico.
Which brings us to the big question of this post – who is this beautiful olive-skinned, dark-haired, big brown eyed GH nurse Francesca? General Hospital buzz is that she could very well be Sabrina’s little sister. Many GH fans expressed on social media that they noticed the very intense and adorable exchange between Michael and Francesca as they both were so playful and connected so well. Michael has not looked at any girl like that since Sabrina.
Could it be he felt a strong connection to Francesca because she reminds him so much of Sabrina? Michael had a sparkle in his eye we haven’t seen in a while. Nelle (Chloe Lanier) pretty much manipulated Michael into feeling sorry for her but he NEVER lit up like he did with Sabrina and now with Francesca.
Most General hospital fans loved the Sabrina and Michael romance, both characters needed to be happy and seemed to finally find this – until the character’s sudden demise.
Could GH be trying to right the wrong of the Sabrina murder debacle by bringing Sabrina’s baby sister on board? Is it a coincidence that Francesca is also a nurse like Sabrina and Gabriella or is she following in her big sister and mother’s footsteps?
Sharp General Hospital watchers will recognize Celesta DeAstis as a previous character on GH she played grown-up Avery Corinthos on the hour special devoted only to Ava Jerome (Maura West) episode. It seems like that was major screen test!
The actress Celesta DeAstis could easily pass for Puerto Rican but is of Italian descent – (Teresa Castillo was Spanish, Mexican, and Chinese) – so this actress fits perfectly with the Sabrina look. What do you think General Hospital Fans, is GH trying to bring back the magic of Michael and Sabrina with a new beauty cast in Sabrina’s mold?
Most General Hospital fans on social media say the best thing about new nurse Francesca is that Michael will be away from evil Nelle – but it would also be nice seeing more of General Hospital’s favorite male Nurse, Felix Dubois (Marc Anthony Samuel) if she develops a close friendship with him like Sabrina had!
