General Hospital spoilers tease that Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) could soon return to Port Charles and General Hospital. In a recent interview with Michael Fairman, Jonathan talks about his future after his hit series “Nashville” concludes in a few weeks. While he doesn’t imply that Lucky’s return is imminent, he states that a return to General Hospital is always possible and that he never rules it out.
General Hospital viewers would love to see Lucky Spencer return right now, and it would be a perfect time for at least a visit. With Dominic Zamprogna gone and Dante Falconeri gone with him, Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan) could really use her big brother Lucky around town.
Although it has been teased by the powers that be at General Hospital that mom Laura Collins (Genie Francis) will return when there is a perfect storyline for her, there hasn’t been much action on their part to make it happen. So Lulu’s basically on her own family-wise, with cousin Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) in Ferncliff, and Valerie Spencer (Brytni Sarpy) having been basically AWOL from GH storylines for quite some time.
Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) is still in town, but she’s pretty busy with keeping an eye on granddaughter Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and worrying about Carly.
General Hospital viewers will remember that the last time we saw Lucky in Port Charles was in July 2015, as part of his TV father Luke’s (Anthony Geary) exit storyline. Who can forget the scene where Lucky brings a previously thought dead little Jake (Hudson West) home to his mother Liz (Rebecca Herbst)?
That has to rank among the most heart-tugging General Hospital scenes in history. There are so many current storylines where Lucky would be a welcome addition, even if Jonathan only came back for a visit for a month or two.
One obvious storyline where Jonathan could recur as Lucky would be to fill in as Chase’s (Josh Swickard) temporary partner in Dante’s absence. Long time GH viewers will recall Lucky was trained as a cop and served on the Port Charles Police force at one time.
Lucky had some major problems, no doubt (one storyline had him as an addict) but it’s been long enough that it could be worked around for Lucky to return to the force for a period of time.
There are other storyline possibilities for Lucky as well. Someone will have to investigate the body and gun that GH spoilers indicate will be found in Charlie’s Pub since Chase is pretty busy with Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier). GH writers would have to promote Valerie to detective to use her in this investigation, and Lucky is already a detective.
And imagine the chaos of Lucky returning to interrupt Liz and Franco’s (Roger Howarth) wedding! Aiden (Jason David) is Lucky’s son, and Lucky was one of the investigators that went after Franco in Franco’s “bad old days.” Lucky is bound to object to that marriage.
And what if some criminal needed ferreting out from the catacombs near Port Charles (if they didn’t collapse in the earthquake). Lucky’s a catacombs expert thanks to his exploring them with cousin Sly Eckert (Glenn Walker Harris, Jr.) as children!
