General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) fears will grow stronger. He’s starting to think Carly’s (Laura Wright) losing her mind and that trend is only going to continue. As Nelle (Chloe Lanier) kicks her plot in high gear, Carly will be more rattled than ever. All the Morgan (Bryan Craig) madness will certainly take a toll on her mental health.
Carly will be torn apart by the “hauntings” and little reminders of hear dead son. Nelle’s really putting her through a tough ordeal. Of course, this isn’t the first time Nelle’s targeted Carly and her family. That fact has led to some complaints from GH viewers. Why wouldn’t Carly suspect Nelle’s involvement?
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Laura Wright offered a good explanation. “I don’t even go there, because then the story doesn’t work,” Wright said. “That’s what I say all the time to people: ‘That’s not the story they’re writing.’”
Wright seems to think it’s best if Carly’s a little clueless. She wondered, “If Carly is so smart all the time, then what story am I going to play?” That’s actually true for many GH characters. The story often calls for certain Port Charles residents to be dimwitted. It can be a comical part of the show if you choose to look at it that way!
However, Wright had some other ideas on why Carly hasn’t considered Nelle as the culprit. It’s clear that Nelle’s plot is stirring up a whole lot of grief again. “And we’re talking about a dead child here,” Wright said. “So I don’t think her first thought is going to be Nelle. It’s going to be, ‘I would do anything to believe I could have my kid back.’”
We can gain some intriguing story clues from that statement. For starters, Wright suggested that Carly’s “first thought” isn’t Nelle. She didn’t say Carly would never in a million years suspect her. That wouldn’t be realistic. It makes sense that GH will let this dawn on Carly slowly. She could eventually begin to suspect Nelle down the road.
If Carly is institutionalized, she’ll have plenty of time to think without all those Morgan distractions. It could suddenly hit her that Nelle was behind the chaos. Wright also suggested that Carly believes Morgan could be alive. Carly initially believed someone was out to get her, so it looks like the story’s shifting to something else.
It sounds like Carly will become more and more convinced that Morgan somehow survived. If she wavers on that, Carly could at least try to contact Morgan’s ghost. General Hospital spoilers say this storyline will bring some great twists and turns, so stay tuned for some stunning drama.
