General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the ABC soap could be losing two more cast members and they’re especially cute ones! Maurice Benard (Sonny) recently posted the same picture and caption across his social media accounts. He put up an adorable photo of himself with Ava and Grace Scarola, the twins who play Avery on GH.
“Had the honor and the privilege to work with these great actresses,” Benard said. “They are so professional and so much fun.” It’s possible that Benard simply finished filming some scenes with the girls, but that statement seemed awfully dramatic. If he was just wrapping up a day’s work, why not just say he had a good time with them today?
Benard’s statement seems more like a sendoff. He may have expressed his gratitude because Ava and Grace are being replaced. It’s not unusual for soaps to rapidly age children. Perhaps it’s time for Avery to grow up just a bit, especially since the issue of custody will likely be revisited.
There have been several hints about Ava (Maura West) fighting for her daughter. If Avery’s going to be involved in the story more, it makes sense that GH would want to bring in an actress who’s a little older. She could tackle more dialogue and sit still for longer periods of time.
Of course, that doesn’t mean General Hospital fans will like the change. The Scarola twins are precious and many viewers love seeing them on screen. Nevertheless, a recent blind item said two exits were looming and more could follow. Now that Nathan (Ryan Paevey) and Laura (Genie Francis) have been confirmed as the main departures, we have to consider the others still to come.
Maybe the Scarola girls are next on the list. If they SORAS Avery, Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) might have a friend in her age group. At least that’d be a silver lining. Friendships are important on soaps and it’s nice to start them when the characters are young!
