General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) could renew their friendship soon. Maxie’s been softening toward Peter lately, so she’s taking steps in the right direction. She doesn’t approve of Peter’s actions, but she knows he’s not a monster like his father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove).
Peter simply let his vengeful desires spiral out of control. He now realizes that revenge can come at a steep price. It often hurts innocent people and never really solves anything. Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) mission for vengeance proved that as well. Her GH destruction nearly cost Peter and Nina Cassadine (Michelle Stafford) their lives.
Maxie repeatedly suggested that she didn’t want Peter to die. As the fire roared at the stables, Maxie definitely feared for his life. Her concern showed that maybe their friendship isn’t in the past after all. Maxie isn’t ready to forgive and forget, but the fact that she cares at all is a good sign.
It’s clear that Maxie’s fighting her feelings here. Peter became a close pal before he was revealed as Heinrik Faison. She confided in him many times, especially after Nathan West’s (Ryan Paevey) death. Peter could never be a substitute for Maxie’s beloved hubby, but he provided comfort when Maxie needed it most. He even delivered Maxie’s baby, so there was an undeniable bond between them.
Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan) recently had a crucial meeting with Maxie and Nina. She wanted to get their approval on the last installment of the Faison series, which humanizes Peter. Despite Peter’s deception, Maxie still thinks there’s some good in him. She agreed with Lulu’s decision to go easy on him in her story.
Maxie may claim that her feelings for Peter are gone, but she’s just trying to convince herself of that. Since Maxie constantly worries about Peter and defends him, it’s hard to deny that she truly cares. General Hospital writers are trying to redeem Peter, so this softening trend should continue. Perhaps when more Port Charles residents see that Peter isn’t his evil father, he can finally get a fresh start.
Maybe Peter can get a clean slate with Maxie, too. Their renewed friendship seems inevitable, but will it turn into something more?
