General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that there is a good reason why Mike Corbin (Max Gail) remembered the “field in Croton”. In the episode of Friday, May 11, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) travelled to the field in Croton to move the body and gun that Sonny had buried many years ago on the orders of Joe Scully Sr (Robert Miano).
But when they dug six feet down, as Sonny remembered clearly, there was nothing there but an old rusty money clip!! Someone else obviously had gotten there before them and removed the body and the gun!
Could it be that Mike witnessed or learned of Sonny burying the body and the gun and many years ago and then dug up and moved them himself? Mike had not been there for Sonny as he was growing up, and this had to be during the same time period that Scully had murdered Deke Woods (uncredited actor), the abusive stepfather of Sonny.
Later Scully tried to kill Sonny, and the bullet hit Mike instead. Mike could have moved the body and the gun wanting to protect Sonny from going down for the murder of this unnamed individual, having felt remorse for not being there to protect him from Deke.
The problem is, even though the body and gun are no longer buried in Croton, Sonny is still not totally in the clear. There would be no proof that he didn’t commit the murder, even though he would in fact only be an accessory to murder, having buried the body that Scully more than likely was responsible for.
Alzheimer’s patients frequently remember the distant past much better than the current time they live in, but the question is, even if Mike remembers digging up and moving the body and the gun himself, will he remember where he reburied them or what he did with them? He could have dumped them in a harbor or river for all anyone knows.
So where will this story lead? Will Mike remember that he himself moved the body and gun, and what he did with them? Will Sonny and Jason be able to find and move them again and remove all traces of Sonny from the gun?
