General Hospital spoilers reveal that on the new GH episode of Monday, March 5, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) sustains a serious head injury as a result of the earthquake that has struck the town of Port Charles. Sneak peeks and a GH spoiler video from ABC (see below) show him on the floor unconscious, as his adoptive father Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) helps him up from the floor – Michael shakes his head, then sits leaning against a wall, holding the back of his head in pain.
Current General Hospital viewers, who have watched the show in recent years, know Michael’s uncle, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) as having been presumed dead for five years and is Sonny Corinthos’ enforcer for his mob-related activities.
To more recent GH fans, Jason is the father of Danny (T.K.Weaver) and Jake (Hudson West), ex-husband of Samantha Morgan (Kelly Monaco), uncle of Scout (Palmer and Poe Parker) and recently revealed formerly identical twin of Andrew Quartermaine/Drew Cain (Billy Miller). But many GH fans don’t know that over twenty years ago in December 1995, Jason also suffered a head injury because of an accident!
In Jason’s case, the accident didn’t happen as a result of an earthquake or other natural disaster, but as a result of his late brother AJ Quartermaine’s (at that time portrayed by Sean Kanan) drunk driving, and Jason trying to play the hero by attempting to stop AJ from driving.
AJ started out driving the car drunk as the proverbial skunk, and Jason went after him and jumped in the car with him, then AJ ran the car into a tree close to the Quartermaine mansion, and as a result, Jason was ejected from the car, hitting his head, also on the back of the head on a large boulder.
Cousin Ned Ashton (Wally Kurth) saw the whole unfortunate event from the window of the mansion, rushing out to give whatever aid he could, and later took the blame for the tragedy to protect his young cousin AJ.
As a result of the accident, Jason, then close to the age Michael is now, was in a coma for several months and emerged from it with such a severe case of amnesia that he didn’t remember hardly any of his life, who he was, and his emotions were affected as well. It caused a drastic change to his personality and Jason resented all the Quartermaines, except for his sister by adoption, Emily (Natalia Livingston) and grandmother, Lila Morgan Quartermaine (Anna Lee).
General Hospital buzz is that Michael also could suffer the same fate or a similar one to his uncle Jason because of this injury? Could there be a Quartermaine curse that will see Michael recover but become a radically different person? This remains to be seen, but be sure to tune in to watch General Hospital to find out!
