General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that a big day is coming up for the ABC soap. They’re celebrating the show’s 55th anniversary on Friday, March 30. That’s a huge achievement, so GH is pulling out all the stops for this special occasion. Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) stopped by ABC7 to give George Pennacchio the scoop on this episode and reflect on the past. Let’s take a look at his fun tidbits.
For starters, Burton promised that viewers will see lots of familiar faces. He thinks fans will appreciate the effort General Hospital put into this. “They did it right,” Burton said. “It’s a great show. You can expect to see some of the legends come back, which is going to be amazing.”
Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe) and John C. York (Mac Scorpio) were brought up, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg. Other fan favorites will be included in the festivities as well. Burton also acknowledged GH’s accomplishment. He’s blown away by all the support and is thrilled that General Hospital’s still going strong.
“For a show to be on 55 years is absolutely amazing. It’s such an iconic brand,” Burton gushed. He added that GH fans deserve the credit for helping the show reach this milestone. “I gotta thank all the fans ‘cause they’re the ones keeping us on the air,” Burton said. The interview included a mention of flashbacks, too. It sounds like this anniversary special is sure to be a real treat!
Next, Burton offered some fantastic stories from the set. He revealed that his introduction to GH came with quite a surprise. Burton shared that on his first day there, Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) kicked the door open and pretty much knocked him over. He laughed about wondering what he was in for.
Burton also talked about how Jack Wagner (Frisco Jones) used to bust his chops years ago. He indicated that the cast really is like a family. Once Burton had recalled a few tales, the interviewer asked about something that’s probably crossed every GH fan’s mind. What’s up with all the black T-shirts? Pennacchio wanted to get to the bottom of Jason’s classic look.
Burton admitted, “The real reason was the set was really hot all the time and I chose a black T-shirt because you would have to change your T-shirt like four times a day if you’re wearing gray!” There you have it. GH’s biggest mystery has been solved!
