Pippa Middleton is a brand new mother, but it looks like there is one person who is yet to meet her newborn son: her sister, Kate Middleton. There are new reports that say the Duchess of Cambridge has opted to attend a royal engagement rather than visit her sister and her nephew. Pippa gave birth at Lindo Wing, which is the same place that the Duchess gave birth to all three of her children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and 6-month-old Prince Louis.
According to reports, Kate Middleton hosted a meeting for one of her charity initiatives, Early Years, on Tuesday. The event was hosted at her home in Kensington Palace. Because it was not a public event, the media wasn’t notified about the meeting until after it was over.
Earlier reports had indicated that Kate Middleton was planning to be by Pippa’s side while she was giving birth. There was even speculation that the Duchess would be willing to skip Princess Eugenie’s wedding in order to be with her sister instead. Clearly, that didn’t happen. Both Kate and Pippa attended Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding at Windsor Castle on Friday and Pippa didn’t give birth to her baby until Monday afternoon.
According to Vanity Fair, Kate simply wants to wait until Pippa and her husband James Matthews are home with their newborn baby before she visits her nephew for the first time. That’s why she continued with her day-to-day business instead of rushing to the hospital with the rest of the Middleton family. The last thing Kate would want to do in a situation like this is have the media follow her to Lindo Wing, knowing that they would capture her each and every move.
Instead, she is letting Pippa rest and enjoy her one-on-one time with her newborn son and will visit him when the time comes. For many royal critics though, this is quite surprising. The Duchess is prioritizing her royal engagements and not canceling her work or meetings for her personal affairs instead.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about Kate Middleton’s schedule or whether or not she plans on taking some time off to spend with her sister Pippa and her new family.
