There is a huge list of potential godparents on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s list. They probably have a slew of friends that would make an excellent choice. However, it looks like they have narrowed down the short list and they are expected to name George Clooney and Amal Clooney they lucky godparents.
A Clooney family inside source claims the couple have “all but confirmed” Amal Clooney and George Clooney will be the godparents of their first child. Meghan and Harry are very close to the Clooneys and they believe it is a decision that makes perfect sense. Amal and Meghan have been friends for years. George and Prince Harry became close because of the women’s close friendship.
Another source revealed that George has said that he has a hunch that he and his wife will be named the godparents of the royal baby. It’s clear that the Clooneys and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are close friends. They were invited to the wedding and then to vacation with the royal couple in Lake Como shortly after their wedding.
They were spotted not too long ago, hanging out in Italy together. Let’s not forget that George served up his own brand of tequila at the royal wedding –that’s got to be the ultimate friendship sign.
Ben Breslin, George’s cousin, told The Cut that George would make a wonderful godparent. He bragged that he is a wonderful father. He added that Clooney would “make a good anything—George is a great guy!”
The Palace has not confirmed that George and Amal were on a short list as the potential godparents since they never comment on such things. They likely will not confirm the news until the tyke is born in the spring. Another important note is Kate Middleton and Prince William named six sets of godparents for their children, so George and Amal Clooney may only be one of several sets.
