Prince Philip might miss Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank, according to new reports. That’s because if there is one person that Queen Elizabeth’s husband can’t stand, it’s his former daughter-in-law Sarah Ferguson. Things are so bad between them that Prince Philip reportedly refuses to be in the same room as Sarah.
For years now Prince Philip has had a longstanding feud with the Duchess of York, who is the ex-wife of his son, Prince Andrew. As a matter of fact, the two are even known to actively avoid each other at royal engagements and public appearances.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson divorced back in 1992 and since then, the royal family has been very distant with her. And now it is being suggested that Philip might skip out on his own granddaughter’s wedding, just because he hates Sarah so much.
One royal insider even told Britain’s Express paper, “He does what he wants. The royal wedding will be difficult for the Duke of Edinburgh because he hates Fergie so much he can’t stand to be in the same place as her. I would be very surprised if he did go, because he is so estranged from Fergie. I think he will decide at the 99th hour.”
If that weren’t enough, Prince Philip almost skipped Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding back in May as well. The Duke of Edinburgh retired from public life in August of last year and since then has been living a quiet life on his Wood Farm on the Sandingham Estate.
He only made his decision to attend Prince Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding at the very last minute and some people believe that he might do the same with Eugenie’s wedding, too.
But then again, royal observers say that Prince Philip was willing to make a supreme effort for Harry. He might not do the same for Eugenie, especially knowing that Sarah Ferguson will be there, and up front and center, no less.
Of course, only time will tell if Prince Philip will indeed attend Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s royal wedding. Even royal critics and fans know that anything can still happen at anytime. The wedding will take place on October 12 at Windsor Castle.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about Prince Philip and Sarah Ferguson’s icy feud. In the meantime, don’t forget to check back with CDL for all the latest news and updates on Princess Eugenie and Sarah Ferguson along with the rest of the royal family right here.
