The judges had had everyone fooled. They allowed the contestants to believe they could be in the live shows if they made it into the Top 20 however it wasn’t until they actually had twenty dancers ready and waiting when they suddenly decided to change the rules. The judges revealed they were going to be sending the Top 10 to the live shows and that meant they were going to be carrying out more cuts. They had split up the group into a group of guys and group of girls, so each set had their own day in which they once again danced for the judges. The judges had wanted one more example of the dancers dancing in a different style to their own and so tonight’s episode of “So You Think You Can Dance” was the Ladies’ turn.
The first contestant to dance tonight was Hannahlei Cabanilla. She was a Contemporary dancer and had been asked to perform Salsa for the judges. The judges had wanted to see if Hannahlei could bring that intensity that type of dance required and she more than surprised them when she showed how easy it was for her to dance anything. She had wowed the judges with what she did and if there was criticism then it was her transitions. Mary had warned her about that and so that was her only flaw. The next contestant had been Magda Fialek. She was a Ballroom dancer and she had been asked to dance a Contemporary routine. Now as a dancer, she knew that different dances required transmitting different emotions.
Magda mentioned how she had to soften her movements as well as her face to dance Contemporary and that showed in her dance. She was usually very intense if not bringing in the sexy and the fact she could transition had been appreciated. The judges believed she showed great promise and the one thing they weren’t sure about was whether or not she was great enough to be in the Top 10. The next contestant to dance was Dayna Madison. She was a Contemporary dancer and she was being asked to dance the Cha-Cha for the judges though unfortunately, ballroom hadn’t been Dayna’s strong suit. She had faked it until she made it during Academy Week and the only reason she had been able to do that was that she was dancing in a group.
When Dayna tried to dance Cha-Cha tonight, she floundered a little and that made the judges question if she was a strong enough dancer to make the cut. The next contestant to dance had been Genessy Castillo. She was a Contemporary dancer and was dancing Hip Hop for the judges. She had been one of those that had messed up a little during Academy Week because she had let her own insecurities interfere with her solo and so she had to rebound from that. She did her best to regain her confidence and she knew she couldn’t let it shake her during her Hip Hop routine. Genessy instead had gone out onto the stage and had had some fun. She had danced the routine perfectly and the judges had liked a few things they saw in her dance.
The next contestant to dance had been Brianna Penrose. She was a Tap dancer and she had had her own fair share of criticisms back during Academy Week. Brianna’s solo had been called juvenile by Nigel and she had been proud of that routine right up until that moment though, despite the setback, she rebounded and had danced Contemporary for the judges. She had had some very good moments and unfortunately, that might not be enough because of her mistakes. Her transitions had been too heavy and she had stumbled during certain moments. All that Brianna had to regain during Academy week was suddenly left in jeopardy because of her performance tonight and it seems that her performance hadn’t been the only one to surprise the judges.
The next contestant to dance was Chelsea Hough. She was a Jazz dancer and she had been asked to perform Salsa. Chelsea had been wowed the judges when they were first introduced and she’s also been slipping in their esteem ever since. She had been a great dancer that hadn’t been standing out and so that changed with her performance tonight. Chelsea had been great at Salsa and the judges believed she was able to stand out despite being next to an All-star which was a hard thing to do. Chelsea became a favorite again with her routine and the judges had been glad to see how well she could shift into other styles. The next contestant to dance Stephanie Sosa. She was a Ballroom dancer and she had been asked to dance Contemporary.
She had given a good performance tonight and the judges thought it hadn’t been enough because they had been looking forward to her bringing some fire to the routine, but other than that she had executed all the moves perfectly and she hadn’t been bad. It had just been monotone. The next contestant to dance was Sydney Moss. She was a Contemporary dancer and tonight she danced the Cha Cha. She had done everything perfectly and found out afterward that it had been a little monotone. The judges thought there had been any left breathed into the dance and so tonight wasn’t her night. The contestant that danced after her had been Emily Carr and she began as judges favorite.
Emily was a Contemporary dancer and she had been asked to perform Hip-Hop. The dance it self-had started out strong and then had run into problems as Emily did her best to focus on the moves rather than the dance. She had shown that she still needed work in learning choreography in a short time and so the judges suddenly became unsure of her. With Emily have the last contestant to dance tonight was Jensen Arnold. She was a Ballroom dancer and she had been asked to dance Jazz. And its safe to say, she had been the biggest surprise of the night because the judges had loved seeing her routine as well as the new adult Jensen. Her performance had been called juvenile in the past and she learned from the criticism because now she was stepping it up.
The judges had been seen several of their favorites let them down tonight and they hadn’t been feeling like saving anyone at this stage, so they based all the judgment off of tonight’s performance.
The judges decided to save Hannahlei, Jensen, Genessy, Magda, and Chelsea but everyone else was eliminated.
THE END!
