Sullivan met with Andy for coffee because he wanted her advice on how he could better lead the team on tonight’s all-new episode of “Station 19”.
Only Andy said the same as her dad. She advised Sullivan to come out of his office every once in a while and just have a meal with his team. Andy said he didn’t have to reveal his life story or anything like that. He simply needed to be able to connect with them and so maybe he should mention his family or his people. Anyone that Sullivan deemed important in his life was important enough to mention. Andy had tried to get through to Sullivan and he clammed up because he didn’t want to reveal what happened to his wife. His wife died while he was on duty and he had been at the scene as a first responder. Sullivan blames himself for her death and it doesn’t seem like he ever moved on. He instead focused on work and he hadn’t wanted that to change.
Sullivan ended up dismissing Andy’s advice. She could see on his face that he was going to take her seriously and so she tried to put the whole encounter with him behind her. Andy had been invited to a get together on Dean’s houseboat and she had been happy to go. She literally told everyone at the party that she was glad she wouldn’t run into Sullivan on their day off because it had been awkward between them and she didn’t even mind running into Ryan. Ryan still hadn’t talked to her since he overheard her discussing him with his dad and so the two of them were at opposites of the party when he got a message on his phone. The message was about his dad Greg and Greg was wanted by the FBI.
Greg was guilty of fraud and his crimes had crossed state lines. The authorities that were looking for him also knew he was originally from Seattle and so Seattle PD was also broadcasting the warrant for his arrest. Ryan had seen it and he told Pruitt about it yet Pruitt basically told him to ignore it for the day. He said the weather was bad outside and that Ryan didn’t have great cell service. It was an excuse, only Ryan was finally getting to know his dad and so Pruitt didn’t think it would hurt if prolonged the inevitable. It’s not like Greg didn’t know he was going to get arrested soon. He did and he just wanted to spend what little time he did have left with his son. And so Ryan ignored the warrant in order his last full day with his dad.
The “Friendsgiving” at Dean’s had gotten off on a good start and everyone had been looking forward to. Especially as Dean had religious about the food and the margaritas he was going to serve. He had gone additional lengths to make this Thanksgiving special for everyone and so it sucked when they got called into work because of the storm. The window storm had led to quite a few accidents and trees were down all over the place. It was more or less a disaster in the making and so first responders all over Seattle were desperately needed. Thankfully, their friends and family had packed up the food and alcohol to take with them back to the station house and so they were going to still go to celebrate the holidays. They just have to work it first.
Fire Chief Ripley had come by to help out and so Andy arranged it for Maya to be on patrol with him even if it meant she had to go with Sullivan. Sullivan hadn’t mentioned what happened earlier and he hadn’t said anything when he and Andy responded to a 911 at the same site where his wife died. He chose to bottle his emotions and focused on their patient who was having a crappy birthday. The poor girl had a boyfriend that was trying to break up with her and she had driven out into the storm to get away from it all when she was hit by another vehicle. She just wanted to get a hospital and unfortunately, the EMTs couldn’t move her. Their ambulance wasn’t stable and they had no visibility outside.
The weather was so bad that a tree flew right out at Dean’s truck. He needed another team to move the trees while he responded an emergency in which someone was trapped in their carport. Dean, Ben, Montgomery, and even Maya were trying to get a family man out his carport though the guy himself wouldn’t mind staying there for a while. His mother had come for the holidays and she was driving him as well as his wife up the wall. They also had infant twins and so the guy wouldn’t mind maintaining his excuse not to go back into the house. The firefighters were all willing to poke fun at him and it stopped being a laughing matter when the house behind them caught on fire. The whole family was still inside and so Maya took charge deciding who did what.
Maya rose to the occasion because she was more than ready for a promotion, but back at the station, Jack was falling apart. He never got treatment for the obvious PTSD he was suffering from and so he was unraveling right in front of Pruitt. Pruitt had tried to keep Jack distracted and it failed at the worst possible moment. He had been playing a card game with everyone still around and he nearly got into a fight with Ryan’s dad. The others had luckily pulled the two men apart and Jack had stormed off right afterward, except everyone had seen out of control he was. He wasn’t ok and the longer he kept the pretending the worse it was going to get. And Pruitt could see that each time he looked at Jack.
Sullivan had at least opened up in the end and he told Andy about his wife. He told her how he left Seattle because he wasn’t sure if he could live with memories and the memories came flooding back when he returned. Sullivan opened himself up to Andy and she didn’t plague him with questions. She accepted what he gave her and together they waited until help came. Their friends, however, had regrouped despite their setback and they saved a whole family from both a house on a fire as well as a car trapped in the carport. They came back to the station hungry and couldn’t wait to get on with Thanksgiving. They even celebrated Maya getting her promotion and were happy for a while before they realized that Maya would have to leave Station 19.
Ryan also told his dad about the warrant and left the ball in Greg’s court. His father could either go on the run and give up with his relationship or he could go with Ryan to the police station.
The only one that wasn’t at the station was Andy and Sullivan and that’s because their car eventually went off a mountain.
THE END!
