On tonight’s Take Two season 1 episode 5 as per the ABC synopsis, “A terminally ill man hires Eddie and Sam to protect him from a hitman he hired to make his death look like an accident. When he discovers he was misdiagnosed and is going to live, he fears for his life. Together, Eddie and Sam must keep him safe and in hiding long enough to find and stop his hired killer but soon learn that the hitman isn’t the only one after him.”

We see a man falling from a hotel balcony, the man is Todd Garland.
Eddie and Sam are heading to a case in the middle of the night, Sam thinks it has to be good to be called out this late. They arrive in a parking garage to meet a guy, Todd Garland, who asks to see their ID. Then he opens his trunk to let out his brother Hugh who tells them that someone is trying to kill him, a hitman he hired to kill him. Two months ago he learned that he had terminal cancer and didn’t want his family to see him die so he hired the hitman to kill him and make it look like an accident.
Now, Todd has found out that he was misdiagnosed and is not going to die of cancer. Unfortunately, he can’t find the hitman because he found him on the dark web, he didn’t want it to be traced back to him. The hitman calls himself Azrael, the biblical angel of death. Todd has been hiding out and he has nowhere else to turn. Sam and Eddie want to start at Todd’s hotel. Meanwhile, they are going to drop Todd at their office, they know he will be safe there.
Monica and Berto are keeping an eye on Todd, but Monica creeps him out. Sam and Eddie are at the hotel, she tells him that once she fell from a balcony but lucky she fell into a pool. She asks Eddie if he ever had a near-death experience and he says yes when he was 15, he nearly drowned.
Eddie asks Todd if he would recognize the car alarm that he heard that brought him on the balcony, he says yes. Berto plays sample sounds of car alarms to see if Todd can recognize one, he does. A guy comes out on his balcony, he tells Eddie and Sam that he saw a guy get in a black Silverado pickup when his car alarm went off at 3 in the morning,
Sam shows Todd a tracking device that was under his car, he says it is untraceable and probably designed by an electrical engineer. Sam and Eddie head off to look for an electrical engineer who owns a black Silverado. Eddie and Sam head to one guy’s place, who owns this type of vehicle, he is not there so they pick the lock and go in. Inside they find photos of the balcony railing, maybe they found their guy! They turn around to leave and all of a sudden a steel cage comes down and they are trapped inside.
A guy approaches them, Eddie and Sam tell him they are only there to get the hit canceled on Todd Garland. The guy says he will cancel the hit but he can’t let them go, he walks out.
Sam and Eddie are alone, there is a gun on the floor outside the cage, Sam takes off her bra so the can try to get the gun with it, but just before they do, the guy comes back, he touches the cage and he electrocutes himself. Sam and Eddie get free. The guys’ name was Avery Rush.
Todd thanks Eddie and Sam, he is so happy that the hitman was found. Todd leaves and calls Sam, there is a frequency problem and Eddie shouts for him to get out of his car.
Todd survives, Eddie tells him that the both were planted after Avery was in custody, they know because they swept his car. This means that someone else is trying to kill him. Sam comes up with an idea to fake Todd’s death in the hopes of finding the person trying to kill him.
Sam goes to see Todd’s wife and explains everything to her. His wife tells Sam that the only thing different in their lives is an Escalade that has been parked across the street a few times. Todd’s wife sneaks in to see him at the hospital, Eddie tells her it is time to go, they are going to fake his death. They do a fake funeral, Eddie and Todd go to the funeral undercover, Todd finds it strange that there is a security guard there from Todd’s company, he drives a black Escalade. Back at Eddie and Sam’s office, Todd logs into his work computer and notices that some of his reports are missing for a major security flaw in the Megatek system, it’s a smoke alarm, it can be hacked and turned into a listening device. Todd says if the news had got out, it would have cost the company millions.
Sam and Eddie head to Megatek, Todd’s brother Hugh was in the office where the call had come from when the bomb in Todd’s car detonated, Sam and Eddie think he is the one who tried to kill his brother.
Sam and Eddie go to see Todd, he is passed out, there is a gas leak but thankfully he is ok.
Todd goes to see Hugh and asks him why he did, he pulls a gun on him. Hugh tells Todd that he was too consumed with his career to take care of his family, Hugh claims he took care of them and he says he is more their family than he is.
Hugh is arrested for attempted murder.
