The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers tease that Liam (Scott Clifton) may have shot his own father and hasn’t realized it yet. Following what was earlier suggested, a recent scene development indicates that Bill’s (Don Diamont) attacker was his son!
Some B&B fans see Liam as principled. Others see him as naive. Clifton’s character is obviously written to prod both perceptions, which are steeped in viewer personality type. But if Liam is proven guilty in this instance both sides and those in the middle will likely be very surprised.
So Liam was heading to his dad’s beach front home where Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) was again preparing dinner for her strange, uh, estranged husband. This emotionally hurt husband hit his head rather hard as he was walking through an area that was seemingly, suddenly written as wooden.
That head knock caused a black and white television picture-like screen image to appear. It represented a bumped out flashback within Liam’s mind. He recalled something that wasn’t previously known to the audience, or to him.
Liam was present on the night that Bill proposed to Steffy. He was standing outside the front door, peered through the side panel windows and saw his dad get down on bended knee and pledge his love to Wood’s character.
This revelation countered Liam’s recent reaction, where Hope (Annika Noelle) blabbed about Bill having proposed to Steffy. Liam was stunned in his hotel hideout, which implied that he just learned Hope’s intended negative news drop.
Following this working theory, Liam became enraged at what he saw and followed Bill back to his home on the night in question. All the while Clifton’s character was seemingly unaware of what he was doing, or has blacked it out since.
B&B fans recall Liam’s inserted sentiments to Detective Sanchez (Jeremy Ray Valdez) about hating weapons. Combine that with his apparent choice not to fight back after Bill pinned him in the Spencer Publications’ CEO’s office.
Liam couldn’t possibly be a suspect, right? Well, that’s what the audience has been led to believe.
This potentially stunning reveal is a stretch, as Liam would have to somehow prove he was not in control of himself on the night in question. A series of scientific tests would need to conclusively prove that and then be accepted by the legal system.
Possibly this fact isn’t immediately learned and lingers in the background heading into the birth of Leffy’s child this summer. Further cloud dissipation within Liam’s mind would occur as time passes.
So, the repressed motive would have driven Liam to shoot his father. He had the means to do so by owning a key to Bill’s house, seeing the available piece when quietly entering, picking it up and shooting him in the back.
The opportunity would have come after Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) departed, meaning Liam either saw his father-in-law leave or simply entered later when Bill was alone and the storm was raging.
This entire line of speculation could be a red herring meant to make another one in a series of B&B characters look guilty. But if it’s not, wow!
