The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers tease that Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) is the opposite of her current public persona. She’s no princess, as her poor husband came to know. Liam (Scott Clifton) now recognizes that Steffy is just like his father, a liar.
Bill (Don Diamont) falsely proclaimed that family loyalty was everything time and time and time again. He’s worn that false symbol around his neck and asked his sons to wear it as well. But there is no Spencer family loyalty. There’s only Spencer family disgust and shame.
What type of person sleeps with her husband’s father? What type of person sleeps with his son’s wife? Oh yes, people who are like Steffy and Bill. Morally bankrupt and totally detestable.
All who chide this arc must be addressed as well. Those who do so on moral grounds must have believed that The Bold and the Beautiful exists to promote chastity, virtue and other such things. People who claim that the issues raised are repugnant are right, but miss the point. This storyline was meant to provoke interest and it is.
B&B fans weren’t surprised to see Steffy shimmy into her incredible beach front house after Liam called her out about the paternity result he held in his hand. She claimed a need for water. That lie was actually just a buy for time.
Then, when pressured, Steffy offered a measured reveal. Instead of simply stating what happened, she tried to talk away what she’d done. Liam was initially told that the paternity test was part of her comprehensive checkup. When he rejected that nonsense, she was forced to admit there was another guy, but concealed who she’d been with at her grandfather’s guest house.
Liam aggressively persisted, as he should have been doing throughout this farce of marriage. Finally, Steffy came out with a name, Bill. Liam’s father. Oh wow!
Clifton offered a terrific, stunned reaction shot. He appeared dazed, ready to vomit and on the verge of tears all at once. Liam fell into the black screen that ended the day’s episode, while Wood was weeping in classic soap style. Both cast members offered performances that were quite simply exquisite.
Kudos to B&B for crafting a deeply compelling storyline, crescendo, pre-New Year’s cliffhanger and climax in this new year. Outstanding work was done behind-the-scenes, in shooting the scenes and by the actors. Yes, all elements were Daytime Emmy Award-worthy!
